A Common Cold (Part 1)

I sigh as I put my hand on my roomates burning forehead saying with a smile trying to cheer him up "I think it's just a simple flu we've seen humans with this many times"

He groans as he pushes the covers off of him "I feel horrible like i might burn up are you sure it's just the humans common flu?"

I smirk a little at the raven haired male saying "what a devil can't stand a little heat?"

"Oh i can stand the heat!" he glares and snaps loudly at me but soon starts coughing uncontrollably.

My smile fades as I place a hand on his shirtless back "that's a new symptom..."

He groans when he stops i retract my hand as he glares at me while he slowly lies back down in the bed then hears the doorbell ring and says quietly but obviously not happy "w-who's that?"

I put the blankets back over him not wanting my friend to make any comments and respond "I called a friend from work to see how sick you actually are"

He mutters wrapping the blankets around him "angels make friends to easily plus i'm fine" but coughs.

I sigh while walking to the door past the small round dining table that barely fits two and the small kitchen with ancient appliances wondering how did I end up living with a devil in a 1 bedroom apartment? But shake off my reason and say to him "keep that on the down low please and no your not"

I open the door on him yelling "I am fine!"

But he erupts in coughs again I sigh "hey Ameila..."

She says seriously "that doesn't sound too good"

I nod and say concerned "yea i know he just wouldn't get out of bed and now he's coughing"

She nods as if taking in the situation I let her in and say "he's over here"

While walking to the pull out couch in looking at him like be on your best behaviour he laughs a bit and as has a big smirk though it soon fades and gives way to a sneeze. He yells "dammit!" and flops backwards on the bed.

I roll my eyes at the scene a devil of all beings getting taken down by the common cold and say "Ameilia this is Derek, Derek, Ameilia"

She says not taking her eyes off of him "hi Derek so I heard from Jess here your running a fever and feel weak"

He rolls his eyes sitting up and letting the blankets fall into his lap so i think he must be overheating again "yeah so?"

I groan "be a little nicer she came all the way here for you!"

She says not caring about his attitude " It's fine now where is the kitchen?"

I point and say "over their"

She nods and carries a bag i didn't realize she had to the kitchen while I scold him quietly "come on be nice you can't help with our mission when your sick"

He suddenly grabs the blankets and wrap them around his shoulders saying "its freezing in here again, are you trying to kill me?"

I say looking at the thermostat from across the room bored "it's still 18 degres celsius I haven't touched it"

I then say "I need to talk to Amelia" and walk to the kitchen.

She suddenly drags me into the kitchen whisper yelling "I didn't know your roommate was that hot"

I blink and whisper back "huh! What do you mean!"

She states "are you blind!... don't answer that! It's just that he's all the girls talk about at work right now"

I say "most of them are teenagers! And... that's not why you're here! I need help!"

She sighs nodding and saying "yea i know"

He soon sneezes loudly again and mutters something, I groan and say "we'll argue about this later now what do you have in the bag?"

She puts several things down on the table saying "Cough Syrup, lots of tissues, a thermometer, and orange juice."

I sigh and say "ok.... Now what"

She just gets to work by putting some orange juice in a cup hands it to me, we then move to the pull out couch and she takes his temperature then sighs "high but not dangerous"

We both nod and then she puts the cough syrup in a small cup and says "drink"

He eyes the cup as if it might kill him then she says sternly "do it or i will make you"

He scoffs crossing his arms "how are you gonna do that?"

I say pleading with him "just do it Derek what do you have to lose?"

He sighs and says "fine because you said so"

Then drinks it but soon gags yelling to me "did you just poison me Angel!"

The Ameila says casually "no if anybody did it was me"

Then says as she shivers under his glare "i-i mean no nobody poisoned you! Why would you think that! Was your life really that bad till you got here?"

He shrugs as his face softens looking away from her and says "it was ok maybe could have been better"

I sigh wondering what he had to go through to get past the trials before he became a full fledged devil then hand him the orange juice "here"

He quickly downs it and says with a small frown "alright are you two done playing nurses"

Ameila says handing him some cereal almost unfazed "i almost am, now all you need to do is eat this and rest for a few days..."

She looks at me "and you need to make sure he stays in bed and takes medicine i'll cover for you at work..."

I go to respond she says "he could get much worse if you leave him alone he seems like the type that wouldn't listen"

I nod "alright fine i'll watch him..."

She nods "good i'll leave now"

A while after she left he says out of the blue "you didn't have to do that you know"

I jump and gasp as i thought he was sleeping but soon recover from my fright and say "yes i did, your the only one i have right now... and I couldn't do this alone..." I look at the carpet getting nervous as to how he might respond.

He laughs a little stating rudely "do you have any idea who you're talking to? I'm a devil and your an angel that sounds pathetic! a strong and powerful angel needing help from a sly and sneaky devil... how stupid can you be"

I yell getting extremely angry "y-you know what j-just forget about it!" I then get up and storm into my room thinking why did i even say that! I can't believe it! And his response a textbook devil response! He's just here so he can free his friends and that's all I want to free MY friends, he means nothing! I lock my door then slide down it and think as tears stream down my face, why is it so hard to even think that. Am I falling for a Devil?
