My eyes fluttered every now and then, my head growing heavier as it rested on my palm.
"Excuse me, Mr.Fisher."
My head snapped up at the sound of Mrs. Packertons voice. Thankfully, she hadn't noticed my dozing off, and instead focused on Sal, who barely even flinched.
"Sal, wake up!"
I watched him shoot straight in his chair, eyes wide behind his mask. The sudden attention startled him. "Huh?"
I stifled a laugh as he patted down his pigtails.
"That doesn't look like math to me." Mrs. Packerton raised an eyebrow, glancing down at Sally's desk, and then back to his prosthetic.
"Oh, sorry," Sal looked down and fumbled with his pens, "I must've dosed off. I already finished the test."
"I know, dear. You aced it as well, very good." She smiled sweetly at him, her old, cracked lips pulling thin. It was like stretching a rubber band that had been put through a shredder. "Just try to stay awake for the remainder of class, OK?"
He nodded, "Sure, it wont happen again."
My focus had shifted from my blue headed friend to the blonde asshole a desk over.
Travis was looking behind him as if he was mad Sal had gotten an A. That boy wants everyone around him to fail. I honestly couldn't stand him. If this was my last school, I would've walked over to him and punched him right in the jaw. But, I want to at least try to keep a good rep here.
"And Mr. Phelps, eyes on your own paper." Her tone changed as she stared Travis down.
He grumbled incoherent swears as he turned back to his paper. Begrudgingly, be resumed his math, stealing a glance in my direction. I wasn't trying to keep it a secret that I didn't like him. Even though it was my first class with him, he got the message. I glared at the gremlin, giving him the meanest look I could muster before facing my test. I swiftly scribbled my name and stood up, handing my paper to the teacher just as the bell rang.
A spike of anxiety shot through me, leaving faint butterflies to flutter around inside. I was about to meet the rest of the group. I can't remember the exact names Ashley had given me. I think one of them was Tim? Tom?
I shook my head as I walked through the crowded doorway. I waited for Ash and Sal to catch up before going anywhere. I had plenty of time since it was locker period. I also didn't want to head to the lunch room all by my self.
The two walked out, chatting up a storm before they noticed me standing there. Ashley fixed her gaze on me, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Somebody looks nervous~," I guess my tension wasn't as well hidden as I thought.
"Is it that obvious?" I questioned, placing a hand on the side of my head.
"Relax, Y/N, you'll be fine!" Sal chuckled, "They aren't the judgmental type, I promise-."
"Hey freak!"
I groaned internally. What did he want? And who was he calling a freak?
I silently begged it was me so I would have a valid reason to beat his ass.
"Nobody likes a goody-two-shoes, Saaally face!" His fists were balled and I could see spit fly from his mouth as spoke.
Before I could tell him where he could stick his opinion, Sal spoke up for himself. "Nobody likes a cliche bully, Traaavis." Sal was taking full advantage of us not being able to see his face. If I hadn't learned to tell peoples emotions by their voices, I wouldn't have thought he was the slightest bit scared.
