Chapter 3

Storm ^^

Riley's pov

They gave me a rundown on mates they were quite shocked when I asked what mates were. We all get dressed me into black skinny jeans with rips at the knees, a black flannel buttoned up, and black high top converses as well as a black beanie. Storm wore a red loose sweater, black skinny jeans with rips at the knees, and maroon high tops converse plus a back hat. Mars wears a light washed ripped jeans, grey vans, and grey long-sleeved sweater and a striped long sleeve shirt underneath.

 We decided to head into a nearby town to get some food. When I looked over at the girl's hesitantly asking "We are a few towns away from my goal in to head to Oregon or Washington" I smiled at them "What yall think?"

"I'm in" Storm and Martha grinned together making me laugh Storm then said "We should go to Washington I think that's were Dylan might be"

We all ordered breakfast and started talking getting to know each other.  "If I can ask what happened to y'alls mother?" 

"Oh um she died shortly after I was born," Storm said softly looking down

"O-oh uh I'm sorry" I mumble softly

"Oh don't be girl it's okay it happened years ago only one still hung on it is our father," Mar said and sighed 

"Anyways we are in Idaho now we should be able to get to Washington within the next day or so." I smiled softly "Do yall wanna get a hotel to sleep in tonight"

"Yea we can get one we should also walk to at least the next two towns" Storm hummed "oh and we should stay in Millwood it's really pretty but I think we'll find Dylan in Seattle"

I grin and nod "That sound good to me so first we'll go to Seattle then Millwood"

We all agreed and finished eating before paying the bill. We headed back towards the woods deciding to be we decided to race. We laughed and giggled the whole time. It felt nice not to be alone. After we reached the woods we stopped for a second to catch our breath.

"Onward and upward!" Storm called going south 

"Hey Storm wrong way girly" I called laughing 

"OH right pfft I knew that," She said giggling sheepishly 

Mar laughed "Ha! yea right"

I grinned shaking my head going northeast. Most of the walk was quiet so I decided to start singing 

"I got my ticket for the long way 'round
Two bottle 'a whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
And I'm leaving tomorrow, wha-do-ya say?" I sang grinning at the girls they laugh and join me

But it sure would be prettier with you" We laugh softly at how silly we must look. I smiled because I feel at peace and happy and not alone. I'm not alone anymore. We continued goofing around as we walked. Soon we hit another town around dark. I paid for a room for us. Then we went to eat. Another diner cause it was cute and small which is what we wanted.

"I'm not quite sure where we are, to be honest" I sighed softly giving a small smile

"we'll look around in a bit but for now let's eat," Mar said and we all nodded 

We laughed and talked throughout dinner and towards the end, Martha stated "When we reach Seattle we should all go to school" 

I froze before responding "W-what I haven't been in school since kindergarten"

"Well you'll have us so it should make it easier plus you don't have to if you don't want to" Storm smile reassuringly 

Martha smiled softly "It's just a suggestion Riley"

I nod softly before asking "What is a school like?" 

Storm shrugged "It's not really that interesting but it's something teens our age have to do"

I nod thinking about it as Martha speaks "Anyway Seattle is gonna be very busy so we are going to have to be careful and stay by each other at all cost."

"And we need a place to live while we are there" Storm hummed "Also about Riley's ears, we are going to have to be careful about that, but I believe most would think they are fake"

I huffed and made sure my hair was still mostly covered "It's not my fault I was born before the attacks" 

"What do you mean before," Mar asked confused

I froze before smiling sheepishly "Um well you see uh elves born before the frequent attack has pointed ears, however, the ones born after having normal ears to help blend in. Uh, elves are not extinct..."

"You all just blend into humans now?" Mar asked astonished

I nodded with a smile "The major of us are still short except for the males who actually get tall, I am however the only one with all of the element gifts, the others only have earth"

Storm squealed "Really! I have the weather-controlling gift"

I smiled and nodded "Yeah, it's actually really useful when you're trying to hide from the outside world"

Mar raised her hand up looking for the check "welp let's go and head back to the hotel room"

Storm and I nodded getting up as Mar paid. Together we walked back to the hotel room. Mar and Storm shared a bed and I took the other. 

"Tomorrow we should be in Seattle" I hummed curling into the bed

They both sigh happily "Thank god"

Laughing softly we all fall asleep awaiting for what tomorrow brings
