Project I: Prologue Scene
In the black box. A crew with graduating senior theater students stand around in groups. Spotlight shines on Eric & Andy. Players not in spotlight freeze.
Eric: Andy, how are you feeling bud?
Andy: Eh, hopefully I'll win the Professor's graces with my project... I'm failing...
Spotlight fades & shines on Stephanie & Chloe.
Chloe: [Rolls eyes] Ugh, just look at Andy. Why can't Olivia see that Andy has no interest in her?
Stephanie: She's probably trying to get with Andy to get over you...
Spotlight fades shines on Olivia
Olivia: I must like Andy. I need to- [shields hands over eyes & sighs] I don't know...
Spotlight fades shines on Logan & Patrick
Logan: Patrick!
Patrick: What?
Logan: [signals Patrick to come closer. Whispers in his ear.]
Spotlight fades & shines on Mohammad
Mohammad: [contemplating with self] It will happen tonight! It must be tonight... Tonight, we all shall never forget this night!
Spotlight fades. Enters Professor off stage with Shakespeare mug full of coffee. Spotlight shines on Professor.
Professor: [Observes students] Hmm... Everyone is here. Well, Once more unto the breach Shakespeare. [sips coffee. Walks onto the stage. All lights turn on & students unfreeze] Alright everyone positions! [points to Andy] Andy, you're first! Begin! [Curtain closes]
Project I: Scene I
A hike through the forest. Enters Theodore the squire (Andy) & Benjamin the knight (Eric)
Benjamin: Keep up the pace young squire!
Theodore: [Pants. Bends down & scratches upper thigh.] Trying... Must have gotten something while in this place.
Benjamin: Come now thou art doing well young one. It will not be long before thou shall be a knight. We are almost to Lady Lomell's Palace. [moves closer to left stage.]
Theodore: [Follows Benjamin & trips over a fallen branch. Falls]
Benjamin: [Turns to see Theodore.] Pay attention Theodore! Did thou not see what was in front of him?
Theodore: Sorry, I had my mind on something else... [Benjamin helps Theodore up & sees a bird fly by.]
Benjamin: A white dove. Must be the sign of my Lady Lomell's love!
Theodore: Ah love... Reminds me of my woman back home. She's like my favorite squirrel. She's bright eyed, bushy tailed and admires me like a squirrel with its nuts. Brunette soft hair and deep eyes. She's a flyer and makes my head spin treetop to treetop... God I am nuts for her!
Benjamin: Hmm... She's not an ideal lady. She needs to be pale, golden hair, small rounded breasts and slimmed waist... But if she's thy heart's desire then I shall help thee!
Theodore: Really, how shall thou help me?
Benjamin: [Thinks with hand pressed against his chin.] Wait, I know! Let me draw a portrait of thee for thy lady!
Theodore: Oh, I thank thee! [They hug. Theodore walks about random positions on stage.] Shall thoust draw me here... Or, there! No, wait! Here! [Blackout]
Project I: Scene II
Enters Lady Lomell (Chloe) in her palace. She is in the aquarium room of the castle.
Lady: [sighs] Where is Sir Benjamin? It must be Theodore's fault... The Cuckold! Some knight he will be.
Enters Jill the servant girl (Olivia) with a scroll text.
Jill: My lady a message from- [Enters Theodore & Benjamin off stage. Theodore screams high pitch. The sound of glass shatters.]
Lady: What in God's bones!
Jill: My lady!
Theodore & Benjamin: [They yell off stage] Squid!
Benjamin: [draws sword] Back foul creature! Thou fiend! Thou slime wretched fiend!
Lady: What kind of man screams like a woman?
Jill: Actually, I think I'm in love with Theodore...
Enters Benjamin & Theodore with a squid upon Theodore.
Benjamin: Hold still Theodore I shall smite the squid's wickedness from thy body! Be gone villainous creature of the abyss! [accidentally stabs Theodore.]
Theodore: Ugh, blood seeps out from my breast! [Falls & dies.]
Benjamin: [stares in shock. Eyes are wide, blood runs from blade, and flees. Exits.]
Lady: [gasps with hand over mouth.] Somebody help! The squid is my favorite please somebody save it!
Jill mourns Theodore's death and exits. Enters drunk male servant (Logan)
Man Servant: [dances & sings] I shall save thy squid my lady! [Blackout.]
Project I: Scene III
A stable outside the palace with an advertisement board left stage.
Enters Jill
Jill: Benjamin! Where art thou thievest villain!
Enters Peasant Farmer (Patrick)
Farmer: My lady have you seen my horse? You will help me find him!
Jill: What, why? It is not my job.
Farmer: Aye, you have a point there... But if I don't find him then how am I suppose to herd sheep and make wool for clothing?
Jill: Uh, make a poster on the boards?
Farmer: Good idea! [walks to advertisement board.]
Jill: [Whispers to herself.] Perhaps Benjamin stole his horse... Time to make a wanted poster! [The Curtain closes.]
