early life ── oliver james coren was born on 25th february 1991 in vancouver, canada to lorna mitchell, a canadian banker, and howard coren, an english illustrator. in 1999, rebecca coren was born, but howard and lorna split just months after rebecca was born due to lorna's drinking problem. he is no longer in contact with his mother. howard gained full custody of his two children and moved to england. oliver excelled in school and went to university in 2009 to study natural sciences, but dropped out after one year when universal records scouted him at 19 years old when oliver was covering songs at his regular slot in his local pub.
current life ── after 8 years of being signed to universal, and some features in singles with various artists, oliver had released his debut ep, oliver coren the ep, in 2017, which made him an overnight star. he also released his debut album, mercy, in which contains a feature lead single with friend and now wife zendaya coleman. the album earned a grammy, and coren also won breakthrough artist the same year. he was due to go on tour in late 2020 that would parallel with best friend scarlett cabello's make up tour. in may 2020, oliver revealed he was bisexual in an instagram post after he was blackmailed by an anonymous source that had access to a photo of him and an ex boyfriend in his high school years.
death ── on 10th august 2020, oliver and best friend scarlett cabello were involved in a high speed car crash when a paparazzi car hounded into their vehicle after a day in the spa. there was known to be over 200 tabloid photographers there overwhelming the two friends, due to rumours of scarlett being pregnant partnered with questions about oliver's bisexuality and his newly revealed relationship with zendaya. oliver died of an unexpected brain bleed just two days later on 12th august, after he was appearing to recover. he married zendaya on his bedside just minutes before he passed. as a result of his death, zendaya, scarlett and tom holland sued all 210 papparazi present on the day of the car crash, and pursued murder charges on the man who crashed into their car. he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
