***I hope you guys enjoy this story. This is my first story so I'm sorry about the plot holes and errors I make***

The clock was ticking down and the score was tied 41-41.

The coach was yelling at him to drive the ball to the basket for an easy layup to take the lead. Carson looked around, there were two defenders on him and a third was coming to help. He crossed the first man on him and drove past the second one. The third defender stood in front of him trying to stop him from scoring the winning points. Carson pump-faked and dribbled past his defender and jumped up as high as he can and brought the ball down into the basket as hard as he could. BZZZZTT! The buzzer sounded as the clock expired.

SLAM DUNK! He couldn't believe it! He got his first-ever dunk and it was the game-winning shot! The bench crowded around him, congratulating him and slapping him on the back. He heard his dad shouting from the stands, "That's my boy!!" Carson couldn't keep the smile off of his face as the crowd cheered wildly.

"That was unbelievable man!" He turned his head to see Carmelo Davis, his best friend, behind him with a wide grin across his face.

"Better believe it!" Carson replied with a thumbs-up as his teammates surrounded him.

After shaking hands with the opponents, his coach walked towards him. "Hey Carson, come see me in my office after you get changed," his coach said winking at him.

As he walked into his coach's office, Carson wondered what the coach would want to see him for. "Hey, Coach Matt. You asked for me?" Carson asked.

"Ahh yes, Carson take a seat please," Coach Matt offered.

Carson sat down across from him wondering what he was about to hear from his coach. "We have a big game against our rivals, Garden Grove, coming up. We have to start training harder than ever to win that game which brings me to my point. I've noticed that you have really improved since you joined us back in your freshman year. It was a great joy to watch you grow as a person and get so good at basketball." His coach started. "That is why I want to offer you a permanent starting spot on the team."

"W-why of course coach. I would love to take you up on that offer," Carson answered stunned at the coach's offer to move him up to the starting lineup. "I promise I won't let you down, Coach Matt. I'll work hard to keep my spot on the team and contribute to the success of our team."

"Of course. I expect nothing less. Work hard young man. You're a big part of the Lone Oak High School basketball team," his coach smiled at him and offered his hand out to Carson.

Carson shook his hand with a huge smile that he couldn't wipe off his face. As Carson walked out of the coach's office the rest of the team crowded him.

"What happened in there?" Carmelo asked.

"Yeah what did the coach tell you?" Finn Riley, the starting power forward asked.

"Was it good news or bad news?" asked the starting center, Martin Miles.

"Did he cut you from the team?" asked the small forward, Reese Mitchell.

"Woah, guys. One at a time please," Carson said. "Carmelo, I got promoted to the starting point guard. Finn, Coach says that we have to start training harder for the big game against Garden Grove. Martin, I think that getting promoted is good news. And Reese, no I didn't get cut from the team," Carson answered each of them.

They looked at him with stunned expressions on their faces. "That's my guy!!" Carmelo shouted giving Carson a high-five.

"Yeah man, congrats! I was worried that coach was going to cut you," Reese agreed.

"There was no way you'd get cut from the team. I told you that you were trippin' Reese," Finn said jokingly.

"Good stuff man," Martin chimed in.

"Thanks you guys. I won't let you down," Carson promised. "Oh don't wait for me guys. I still have to grab my things from the locker rooms," Carson said.

"Alright man take care," his teammates said as they walked out the gym.

As Carson got ready to leave, he heard footsteps approaching from behind him. He turned around to find the cutest girl he's ever seen in his life. She was shorter than he was and she had long brown hair with natural blond streaks in them. Her hazel eyes shone bright with excitement and admiration as she looked up at him. Oh those eyes, they were the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen.

He snapped out of his trance as he heard her voice. "Hey, my name is Krystal, nice to meet you."

"H-hey," he spluttered uselessly. Dumb ass! He cursed himself. Get a grip. "Hey Carson, I'm Krystal. I-I mean no. Hey Krystal, I'm Carson."

Krystal giggled and held out her hand. "Sorry I didn't mean to laugh. I saw your dunk earlier. It was awesome!"

"R-really? It was my first dunk ever, so I was really surprised when it happened," Carson stammered.

"Yeah! It was great! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how high up you jumped."

"Thanks a lot," Carson chuckled.

"Can we exchange phone numbers? I'd like to talk to you again some other time," Krystal said quickly.

"S-sure yeah of course we can," Carson answered breathlessly as he gave Krystal his contact information.

He melted as she smiled at him, "See you around Carson."

"Yeah, see you."
