Hawks shook as he stood, uncurling his now ragged wings to shake off the debris that has collected on them. He wiped the small line of blood coming from his bottom lip off on the back of his hand.
"That blow should have hurt you a bit, at least." The voice came from the villain Hawks was fighting.
He couldn't see their face in the best of detail, but he could make out their pink eye. gleaming upon porcelain like skin. It had no pupil, the colour blending only to a light shade of pink in the centre of their iris, whilst the other eye remained stitched shut with a cross of thick red thread. A line of blood red hearts ran down the bottom half of their face from the middle of the bottom of their eye, like line of tears, and their lips were painted red in the shape of a small heart.
The villain began to shoot out red strings from their fingertips, manipulating them like a puppet master. They directed a string from their index finger directly at the unstable Hawks and held it their as he spoke.
"It's going to take a lot more than that to take me down." He grinned slightly, grunting at the slight pain he felt in his left leg as he moved it.
The villain laughed in a horrifying manner before narrowing their one eye at the hero, "If that's the case, then I can always toy with your ability to view fate."
The string that they had aimed at Hawks began to glow slightly, the other strings withering away. The villain smiled at Hawks in slight victory, curling their index finger and extending it out again, causing the string to leap forward at light speed.
It hit Hawks directly on the chest, the impact pushing him back into the side of the building he had already been sent back into previously. Hawks closed his eyes as he felt the impact, expecting to feel a searing pain as the string pierced through his heart and lungs, but he only felt a warm tingling on the spot it had hit.
The sensation was immediately overwhelmed, however, by the pain Hawks felt from his limbs, back and wings as he broke through through the thick concrete and metal framing of the building he was pushed into.
His vision became slightly blurry as he tried to regain his breath through weak inhales.
"Enjoy the game, my little bird."
That was the last thing Hawks heard the villain hovering above him say as he passed out.
