Chapter 1

I sat in front of the observer's room in the interrogation area.

I rested my head on the palm of my hands.

A man with dark hair sat inside the interrogation room with his head lowered down.

That man is Shiono Shunji.

He's one of the editors in the Shoeisha's literature editorial department and is the editor of the one and only Takatsuki Sen.

He was called in by the CCG because he was accused of helping a ghoul and keeping their existence a secret.

Therefore, he's going to be interrogated.

I hope nothing bad happens to him.

Suddenly, the door of the interrogation room opened.

Sasaki Haise-I mean-Kaneki Ken entered the room.

That's right; Kaneki was going to interrogate him.

Boy isn't Shiono lucky.

I'm kidding.

He's not.

Shiono started to sweat as Kaneki eyed him intensely while closing the door.

Kaneki then slowly starts to approach him.

I shivered.

Even I could feel the tension from the observation room.

Suddenly, Kaneki kicked the table.

Because of his actions, the chairs also lost their balance.

Shiono fell to the ground, startled.

I held my chest.

Did he really have to do that...?

Shiono's back reached the wall of the interrogation room.

Kaneki stood there, towering him.

"If Takatsuki Sen is a ghoul and you knew that," Kaneki said.

He then walked closer and grabbed a chair as Shiono prepared for impact.

To his relief, Kaneki sat on the chair.

"You could be arrested for violating the ghoul countermeasures article number 119," Kaneki continued, "The heaviest punishment for the violation will be..."

Kaneki stared directly into his eyes.

"Execution."

Shiono then whimpered in fear.

I sighed.

Poor Shiono...

Kaneki and I stood in the corner of one of the hallways of the CCG building.

The sun was starting to set.

In front of us, Furuta Nimura stood while leaning on the railings.

Ever since I became Kaneki's partner, Furuta was the one who always supervise us.

Though, I don't really like the idea of working with him.

"So, did he talk?" he asked.

"Yes," Kaneki answered plainly.

"Oh well," Furuta said, "I guess he doesn't really know anything about the Owl but it's better than not achieving anything, right?"

Kaneki then began walking away.
