Pilot: Part One

BRACKEN
What took you so long getting back?

TORRES
I had a V.I.U. agent on my tail. Had to lose them.

BRACKEN
Why didn't you just kill them?

TORRES
It's one thing to capture an agent for a few weeks. But to kill another one in plain daylight? The bosses would be on my ass about that.

BRACKEN
It's not that bad. They didn't kill me when I messed up with that one agent a few years ago.

TORRES
Because you are one of their favorite agents. And you technically didn't screw up.

BRACKEN
I didn't finish the job when I should've. I scarred a little kid because of it.

TORRES
Since when do you care about kids?

BRACKEN
Touche.

MARKOVETZ
(coughs)
Are you two done?

Bracken closes the computer and looks over at Markovetz. Torres glances at Markovetz and rolls her eyes.

BRACKEN
You wanna say that again?

Markovetz coughs again and looks up.

MARKOVETZ
I asked if you were done. If not, spare me the couple squabble.

Bracken stands up, shoving the computer into Torres' arms. She sets the computer down as Bracken walks over to Markovetz. Bracken takes out a gun and loads it, placing it against Markovetz's head.

BRACKEN
I can spare you from everything right now if you don't shut up.

MARKOVETZ
Weren't you planning on killing me anyways?

BRACKEN
(looks over at Torres)
What did the Bosses say?

TORRES
Kill him.

BRACKEN
(smiles and looks down at Markovetz)
I guess so.

TORRES
(hisses)
Not here dumbass! Someone could hear!

BRACKEN
Where then?

TORRES
There's a street full of old and abandoned buildings. No one ever looks there. The V.I.U. wouldn't find him for a while.

BRACKEN
(lowers his gun)
Alright then.

Bracken looks back at Markovetz, then hits him across the face with the gun.

CUT TO:
INT. LOBBY OF THE V.I.U. - NIGHT
Dex and Lee are in their lab, playing table football on a table in the middle of the room. Dex just flicked the paper football and missed. Lee takes the football as Dex puts his hands up to make the goal.

LEE
(looks up)
Okay, ready?

DEX
(nods)
Yep. Fire away.

Lee flicks the football and scores. Dex sighs and buries his head in his arms as Lee fist pumps the air.

LEE
Yes! That it 7-5, me.

DEX
(grumbles as he looks up)
Yeah, yeah. But don't forget who won poker today.

Lee sticks her tongue out for a second before standing up.

BAKES
Well, well, well. Look who's stuck here tonight.

Lee looks up and Dex turns around in his chair so that they can both see Bakes, Archer, and Markus standing in the doorway.

DEX
(quietly)
Oh dear.

LEE
What do you want Bakes?

BAKES
Whoa. That seemed a little fierce Fischer. Almost like you don't like me.
