Pilot: Part One

KAYNE
(takes the device and looks at it)
That is... pretty impressive kid.

LEE
Thank you.

Lee picks up the smallest device and hands it to Kayne.

LEE
This is a reusable explosive.

KAYNE
(Holds the device away from her) Back up, did you say "reusable explosive"?

LEE
Yep. Dex helped out with this one. He synced the device to your watch so whenever you use the explosive, it will return to your watch.

KAYNE
How is that possible?

LEE
I made it possible. Obviously.

Kayne raises her eyebrow and Lee quickly picks up the four rectangular gadgets on the table.

KAYNE
The last gadget, is a group of rectangles?

LEE
Yes, and no. Let's say you need to cross a lake that's frozen over. You can't use the melting device, because it would melt the ice and you would fall through.

KAYNE
Obviously.

LEE
So I made these.

Lee presses the green button on all four of the rectangles, which turn them into long tracks with spikes on them.

KAYNE
(jumps)
What the hell?

LEE
Ta-Da! Spiked tracks for better grip on ice. Just wrap them around the tires of any vehicle and they will automatically stick to the rubber. The green button extends the tracks, and the red button turns them back into the size they were before. Then the "size" button will grow or shrink the tracks to the size of the tires.

Lee presses the red button on all four of the tracks and they retract into their smaller size.

LEE
Any questions?

KAYNE
Yes. How are you so smart?

LEE
(shrugs and puts the box back under the desk)
Who knows. That's all I've got for you.

KAYNE
(puts all the gadgets in her bag and nods to Lee)
Thanks kid. I'll see you when I get back.

Kayne leaves and Lee sighs in relief and fist pumps the air.

LEE
Yes! No fire ants today!

CUT TO:
INT. HAYES OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Maxine waiting for Hayes in his office. Hayes walks in and shuts the door behind him. He walks past Maxine towards his desk.

HAYES
Any news on where Markovetz is?

MAXINE
(places a file on Hayes' desk)
Not much.

Hayes opens the file and looks through some pictures that are not the best quality. He lays them out on his desk and looks over each one.

HAYES
Is this really all we have to go off of?

MAXINE
Dean wasn't able to get much. He almost got caught, but as always, Woods was there to save his ass.

HAYES
Dean is a good agent. He just needs to focus. What was he able to gather?

MAXINE
He saw an agent from The Council talking on a payphone at the mall.

HAYES
Which means...?

MAXINE
Sir, no one uses payphones anymore.

HAYES
Having outdated communication methods doesn't mean anything.

MAXINE
Your right, it wouldn't. But Dean also managed to get a voice recording, along with the security footage.

HAYES
Which is where?
