LEE
Argh! I swear one day I'm gonna shut Bakes and his crew up for good.

DEX
Why do you insist on fighting with them? Can't we ever just talk it out?

LEE
We've tried that. It didn't really work.

DEX
Because you did all the talking. Maybe next time, I should be the one talking. I know how to end an argument. All you do is make ways to start one.

LEE
(looks over sharply at Dex)
What's that supposed to mean?

DEX
Nothing. Just that you're a little too reckless.

LEE
Damn, you sound like my mom.

DEX
And maybe dial it down on the cursing? You don't really sound professional when you curse in every sentence.

LEE
Fine.

Lee takes out her phone and takes a minute to scroll through something. Then she presses her screen and a loud beep comes from the phone.

LEE
(right after the loud beep)
You sound like my mom. Better?

Dex sighs and decides not to argue.

CUT TO:
EXT. ALLEYWAY - MOMENTS LATER
Bracken and Torres are escorting Markovetz, who has his hands taped together and his mouth taped shut, through a dark alleyway across the street from Dex and Lee, who are talking about last Halloween.

TORRES
(quiet and fierce)
Move it Bracken! We don't have long to get this done and you know how angry the bosses will be if we come in late.

BRACKEN
(quietly)
I know, I know.

Bracken pushes Markovetz forward through the alley, followed by Torres.

CUT TO:
EXT. SIDEWALK - CONTINUOUS
Dex and Lee are still walking through a quiet little neighborhood with old buildings everywhere and a few street lights. Dex has his phone out and has a picture of him and Lee dressed up as Harley Quinn and the Joker.

DEX
Alright, the evil DC duo was great, but what about our classic Hogwarts look?

LEE
That was good, but you really can't compete with you and green hair.

Lee ruffles Dex's hair and he smacks her hand away.

DEX
So what are we doing this year?

LEE
Well, since we did a DC Halloween, what if we did... Ahhhh crap.

Lee stops walking and turns back towards the direction of the V.I.U. Dex stops as well and looks at Lee.

DEX
What?

LEE
I forgot my jacket.

DEX
Should we go back?

LEE
No. I can just get it tomorrow.

DEX
Or...

Dex holds up Lee's jacket. Lee smiles and reaches for her jacket, but Dex pulls it away.

DEX
What? No "thank you Dex?" No, "what would I do without you my best mate in the whole wide world?"

LEE
How about, "give me back my jacket before I punch you in the face."

DEX
(smiles)
That works.

Lee smiles back and grabs her jacket. She sets her backpack on the ground and starts to put the jacket on while speaking.

LEE
Thanks for grabbing it. I have lost count of how many times I've forgotten...

Lee trails off as she sees the shadowy outlines of Bracken, Torres, and Markovetz across the street as they come out of the alleyway and into an old apartment building for rent.
Dex turns around to face the same way and just barely sees Torres enter the building.
