Chapter 3: I want a baby?

Start from the beginning

"Why?" I asked leaning my head back on to my pillow.

"Have you seen the way the guy looks at you? He is secretly in love with you. Maybe you are just unintentionally leading him on," Reina continued.

I have seen it too, but it was just admiration. When we first met, he was going through a lot of stuff and no one would give him a job. I gave him a job and a chance to earn a honest living.

"You are just imagining things, why don't we get something to eat," I suggested, dismissively.

I got off the bed. I took an aspirin from my medicine cabinet for my headache. I had to chew it first, I've always had difficulties drinking pills, it resulted in a bitter taste in my mouth.

After that we all went to the kitchen, Reina and Abby sat around the table while I cooked some scrambled eggs and bacon (considering I was the only one of the three of us who could actually cook, Reina still got her meals from her parents).

I dished the food then sat at the table to have my breakfast.

"You guys should see how hot Liam from high school looks now. I bumped into him last week, I didn't even recognize him." Reina said.

"The Liam, as in The chubby Liam," Abby commented.

My mind couldn't help but drift away to a conversation we had last night.

I couldn't shake the idea away, the more I thought about it, the more I considered it. I was ready to finally take charge of my life instead of waiting around for something that may never happen, I was going to make it happen instead.

"Guys," I said taking a sharp pause, immediately getting their attention. "I want to have a baby," I said.

Reina dropped her fork.

Abby nearly chocked on her food.

"What?" Abby said.

"I want a baby," I repeated, this time with more enthusiasm and a bit more conviction.

"Oh, you mean like a doll? Or a puppy," Reina said trying to make sense of the situation.

"No, I mean a real baby. One that I have to carry for nine months, that cries, sleeps and does other things that babies do," I said.

"How are you going to get pregnant? Are you just going to find some random guy to knock you up?" Abby asked.

"Not exactly, this is the modern world. I have more options now." I said. "Such as a sperm donor." I continued after a long pause.

"Are you really sure you want to have a baby? It's a big responsibility." Reina said.

"I know, but I'm not just going to keep waiting for a prince charming that may never come," I said.

"If you really want this, just know we'll always be there to support you," Reina said.

"Yes, and to talk you out of it." Abby added. "As long as you don't ask me to babysit I'll support you through it."

I chuckled.

I couldn't help but smile. This might just be the only chance I have of becoming a mother. As crazy as it was, I was willing to run with it.

Soon after, Reina and Abby left. By the afternoon, I had convinced myself that having a baby was what I wanted.

I might as well make it official.

Right now I was on my way to my parents house. I didn't know how they would react to the news. Although we hardly agreed on anything, they were important to me.
