His soul slipped into death without a trace

The battle raged behind, paying no heed

He knew that he had lost his final race

But knew that he had finally been freed

From witnessing the bloody depths of death

And knowing there was nothing he could do

He’d seen too many soldiers’ dying breath

Away from this his soul happily flew
