Chapter eight

“That was amazing!” I gushed as I pulled my helmet off.

“Glad you liked it so much Bella” Logan smiled as he took the helmet from me. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins and I felt as though I needed to walk off the extra energy. I checked my phone and saw it was close to five o’clock. “Wow time sure flies”

“Tell me about it. Did you want to hang around for a bit more or...?” Lucas asked quirking an eyebrow.

“Nah, I might go for a walk or something. Will I be seeing you guys later?”

Lucas scratched the back of his head as he thought, “You might. We still a fair bit to do here before we should clock off”

Even though he didn’t mean it accusingly I felt a pang of guiltiness, “I am so sorry guys! I know I shouldn’t just be popping up and distracting you two when you’re working”

The two of them laughed before Logan spoke, “Trust me, we both don’t mind the distraction you’re giving us” he winked. I giggled and rolled my eyes.

“Well in any case I probably might head off”

“That’s probably a good idea actually. We have more to do than we realised and we won’t be finished until real late tonight”

I kissed the two of them before waving and leaving the garage. I walked down the dusty pavement pretty much just people watching when a big black truck slowed down next to me. “Bella? What are you doing walking around by yourself?”

I smiled when I instantly recognised Rorke’s voice. “Well hello there stranger”

His lips turned up in a crooked smile and he tipped his Stetson, “Evening ma’am. That’s an interesting jacket you’re wearing there”

I chuckled and looked down at my outfit. I’d changed into my shorts again but kept the riding jacket seeing as I didn’t have anything else to wear and I’d already spilt my drink and the inside was slightly damp. “You think? I think you’ll find what’s underneath even more interesting”

I unzipped my jacket halfway and watched as his eyes bulged momentarily before he fixed his expression and I zipped myself back up. He cleared his throat and nodded, “Yes ma’am I do find that very interesting. Although ‘sexy’ might be a better word. Would you like a lift?”

“With a rugged and sexy cowboy? Hell yes I do!” I laughed on the inside at how flirtatious I seemed to be with Rorke and how I really liked this little back and forth we seemed to have. It was easy to be with him and he always like to tease and joke with me.

I walked around the truck and hopped inside to the passenger side. I slammed the door shut and buckled up. “So would you heading Rorke?”

“Actually I was only back to gather some supplies for the ranch from a friend’s shop and I saw you walking by. I was headed back out to the ranch, but if you needed me to drop you back to the hotel or somewhere I’d be happy to do that”

“Actually, I’d love to see your ranch if that was okay?” I didn’t want to stop him from doing anything important but a ranch out of the city was something I’d always wanted to see since I was younger and that definitely sounded more fun than sitting in a hotel room. No matter how fancy it was.

“I’d love to show you my home ma’am”

In all honesty, I felt goosebumps caress my skin everytime he called me ma’am. It was just... so damn sexy!

He had music playing low and the windows were wide open as we drove further towards the outskirts of the city and I felt myself relaxing already. It was a hot day but as the day came to a close it became humid and I found that the jacket was way too hot. I unzipped the zipper down just past my bra and sighed when I felt the cool wind blow against my sweaty skin.
