This is called a list memoir. I wrote this in creative writing on August 28, 2019.

My bunk bed: I was so excited to get it in the first place. My old blanket: lost some time in elementary school. My iPod: the battery died. My childhood favorite dress: I outgrew it in sixth grade. My first copy of The Lost Hero: brought it in my purse, didn’t find it until I bought a new one. The weird jumping phase: I don’t know why but I just constantly jumped everywhere I went.

My first goldfish: when we released her into my neighbor’s pond, Goldie was eaten. My first frog: also eaten in the pond. My first hamster: Crystal died in her sleep. My second hamster: Lily also went in her sleep. Rose the beta fish: the only fish I actually remembered to feed. One of my pea plants: my cat bit it in half. The other pea plant: it grew too tall and snapped. Max: the cat everyone loved. Carmen: the only cat you could have a real conversation with.

My grandparent’s old house: my grandma moved next door. My tractor: it was sold when my grandma moved out. My cousins’ first dogs: they were the only ones I wasn’t afraid of. My grandfathers: both passed away due to cancer before I reached middle school. My great grandmother: lived to be ninety-two, made beautiful jewelry, and was literally the most hilarious person in my family. My grandma’s pizzelles: she just doesn’t make them anymore.

My friend Tessa: she moved away a few years ago. My friendship with Morgan: started deteriorating after she said her best friend was someone else.

Dance lessons: took them for seven years and my parents weren’t convinced I enjoyed it. Piano lessons: I’m glad I quit because I play better now than with them. Elementary school: I don’t know why I thought I got a lot of homework. Middle school: now that I think of it, I don’t really miss it all that much.

The ability to perform on stage: I guess I just don’t fit in there anymore. The ability to fit in: everyone was on the same page in elementary school. The ability to play dodgeball: after I fractured my wrist, I’m just terrified of it. The ability to do anything without hesitation: I have a lot of irrational fears. The ability to make cookies: apparently, everyone likes my cookies except for me.
