Dib made his way across the linoleum floor of the cafeteria with a disposable, foam tray in his hands. He needed to get to the library or Ms. Jem's class. But most likely the library, because Ms. Jem needed her off time too.
He walked across the squeaky floor, getting closer and closer to the door. But a skinny leg protruded from the table on his left, it came in contact with his own leg, and he hadn't time to stable himself. As Newton's Law of Universal Gravity explained, he fell.
It took him an embarrassingly long time to realize he had been tripped and was now lying on the floor with his tray of mystery meat all over his shirt. He rolled his eyes at the laughter coming from his left. He looked up to find the table of assholes. They weren't exactly popular, but they were all terrible enough to have a name in the school social network, as anyone who denied them this would be killed on the spot.
The girl who had tripped him was named Layla, and he knew it was her because she never wore anything other than tacky outfits which were much too tight, which Dib was fine with, it was her choice to wear tight clothes. However, the clothes she wore never looked good, not on her, and not on anyone. She wore dark magenta leggings today with a yellow shirt that read, "I woke up like this" which couldn't be true, because who wakes up with copious amounts of lip gloss on? She had a blue strip in her blonde hair. This looked terrible with her outfit too, as it was faded and just plain gross.
"Oops!" She exclaimed as Dib got up.
Dib looked around to find many people looking at him, and he instinctively ducked at the feeling of eyes on him.
Darrius, another kid at the table suddenly pointed out the fact that Dib had crippling social anxiety, "Aw, he doesn't like eyes on him!"
Dib sighed, and threw out his tray, deciding to leave the hell he had (quite literally) fell into. He walked out of the room quickly, with his shoes squeaking on the floor. The table laughed as he left.
It's not like this was the first time this had ever happened. Layla seemed to enjoy tripping people on occasion. She would find someone walking near the table, and as long as she hadn't befriended them she'd trip them. She was just that kind of kid, and she fucking sucked, but Dib digressed, she was probably just dealing with shit at home or something. That didn't give her a surefire excuse to hurt people, but it did give Dib enough to keep pitying her rather than hating her.
Dib let his feet fall on the floor of the hi-skool hall as he made his way to "the looser room" (spelled incorrectly to emphasize the fact that anyone who goes in there has the social life of a hermit crab). "The looser room" being a bathroom, where people washed their shirts off or demonstrated their bulimia, it was even known to be a room where people would jerk off when they managed to get awkward boners in class, and needed a place they knew no one would question strange heavy breathing.
It wasn't a prideful place to go, but Dib wasn't exactly a prideful person, and he needed to wash this nastiness off his shirt. He continued to walk to the freshman halls. Though he was a senior, most of the people who used "the looser room" were freshman, because seriously, have you ever met a cool freshman?
When Dib made it to the smoothe brown door, proclaiming, "INTERSEX RESTROOM" in both brail and bold letters, he opened it and was immediately met with the smell of piss and saltiness.
He found another boy there, a teen named Zim in his grade. He washed his hoodie in the sink, though he was still wearing it, getting rid of the grime from his own mystery meat. Zim looked up at Dib and then at Dib's soiled shirt.
"Layla got to you too?" Zim asked.
Dib let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding in, "Yeah, she did."
