Chapter 2 William H. Bonney (AKA) Billy The Kid

Neko's POV: days went by like I couldn't believe I was now a full grown dog a full grown German Shepherd dog I even had a name Neko was my name I was lying down on the front porch when suddenly I heard fighting I looked up and saw Steve fighting with my best friend Chavez Chavez had his Bowie knife out and was trying to cut Steve but then Richard showed up and tried to break them up Doc had gone into town with John they were coming home when Richard was trying break Chavez and Steve up I jumped off the front porch and ran over to Chavez trying to cheer him up of course Steve a total asshole and punched Chavez in the back towards his shoulder part Chavez tried to get back at him for it but I tried get to his attention so he wouldn't have to worry about Steve as I did Doc got off the wagon and walked over towards us

Glad you're back Doc you can start hauling the rope inside Richard ordered

You okay Chavez? Doc asked rubbing Chavez's shoulder

Yeah I'm alright Doc thanks Chavez replied rubbing his shoulder

Your welcome Chavez Doc said

John bring another hard case in? Charlie asked

Hope it ain't another Mexican Steve added

Mexican Indian you son of a bitch Chavez shot back shooting a death glare at Steve's direction

We were all introduced to William H. Bonney or Billy as he liked to be called John had the perfect job for him feeding the hog that John has named Horton I watched as Horton knocked Billy over and Billy getting mad and throwing stuff at Horton it was all fun and games until Billy pulled out his gun and was going to shoot Horton I was about ready to charge at Billy but Chavez pulled out three of his knives and throws them into a fence post near him scaring him I was in fear of Chavez's safety so I followed him as he plucked the knives out of the fence post because Billy still had his gun out and it was drawn on Chavez so I was worried about Chavez's safety I even heard Steve say something like he ain't all there is he but I didn't care I didn't care about anything that Steve said and then Charlie started hacking on him telling him that pigs were smart as dogs even Horton is not as smart as me

I ain't no pistoleer or like a knife smith like that greaser Chavez Y. Chavez over there I'm a pugilist but I ain't expecting the expectation of that word hog boy Charlie said

Shit you ain't know why I'm here Billy replied

Sure I do you're runaway derelict bottom scum vagrant "ain't you? like the rest of us footpad maybe petty theft rob a bank kill somebody.... Charlie began but stopped when Billy smirked at him as he said kill somebody

Killed somebody Charlie said surprised and Billy nodded

I was standing near Chavez when Richard rode up firing his pistol and saying that the cattle looked spooked on the lower forty and we had to go take a look I was training to handle livestock in fact I was bread to work with livestock so I went with Chavez and the rest of the boys when they checked on the cattle afterwards it was time for dinner I laid near Chavez's chair as usual eating my dinner Billy was seated across from Chavez so I was really on edge especially after what I sensed about Billy

Well now look at those appetites William have some more John said gesturing to Billy to eat some more

You ever worked beef before Billie? Richard asked

Richard was from Vermont and in Vermont they say Billy a little bit differently than everyone else does

Yeah.....I worked a little out Fort Sumner way Pete Maxwell's place did the chow line but uh, I got away with cattle Billy answered

Steve and Charlie started laughing and John scolded them for it and told them to apologize to Billy which they did and Richard had to just had to make things uncomfortable especially towards me since I'm a dog

Rumor has it you killed a man Billie you don't seem the killing sort Richard said

Yeah Billy what'd you kill him for? Steve replied asking

He was hacking on me Billy replied coldly with a cold stare which Steve startlingly gulp and Chavez gave him an evil smirk before everyone went back to eating their dinner after dinner we had our usual reading session Steve is still learning how to read I was laying next to Chavez beside the fireplace Charlie was sitting in front of it playing with a rope Steve was sitting on the other side of the fireplace Billy was sitting next to him Doc and Richard were sitting at the table Richard had a lit cigarette in his hand and John was sitting in front of all of us in his rocking chair

There are plenty of men who will never secede... Steve began

Succeed John corrected

Suc.... who will never succeed anywhere Steve finished

We have a room full of them right here Richard pointed out and everybody laughed

Well done "William? John said

Yeah sure Billy replied

Well excuse me Billy very sorry to offend you but we congregated here to learn to read and write you need more skill with firearm to succeed in the new world Billy so take up the journal and start where the other boy left off or you can go straight back to your home on the streets John said simply

Steve held up the newspaper in front of Billy and he took it a little aggressively he held it in his hand and read

Young men who don't know how to do any kind a business and have no energy or application have better stay at home near their relatives so they can be taken care of they're not wanted here and only come to grief but men of enterprise are practically sure of success Billy finished folding up the newspaper

Splendid splendid reading William thank you goodnight gentlemen John said patting Billy on his head and heading off to bed

We all said goodnight to John Chavez and I got up to get ready for bed when Billy walked up I was cautious towards Billy because of him being known for killing a man and I didn't want Chavez getting hurt I kinda stood between them staring at Billy

Where the dog come from Chavez? Billy asked curiously

I found him abandoned in a barn in town one day "why? Chavez asked

Just curious and I don't think he likes me Billy replied

He's being cautious and he doesn't want me to get hurt that's all I'm sure he'll get use to you just give him time Chavez said

Okay Billy said

Goodnight Billy Chavez said

Goodnight Chavez Billy replied back

We entered Chavez's bedroom I went and laid down on my dog bed while Chavez got ready for bed afterwards he climbed into bed and we fell asleep that night
