She bears a heavy heart
She is exhausted.
She smiles through hidden dismay.
For there are a few
Who look to her
To keep their insecurities at bay.
For these faces
She must live on
A general in a battlefield.
Or a mother
Whose warmth soothes a child.
So she stands
Apparently rejuvenated
And envelopes her brother in an embrace.
No matter how fake
There is now a smile on her face.
Whether any notice
her inner self loath,
it matters not.
