Part 6

Mike went to sleep that night thinking about El.

For a while he allowed himself to imagine what going to a movie with El would be like, maybe even as in a date.

He could buy her popcorn, they'd sit so close to each other and maybe even if Mike was a bit more confident he'd kiss her.

After a while of his thoughts running wild he came back to reality to remind himself that that would just never happen.

As nice as El was Mike was about 100 levels away from being good enough for El.

He realised at that moment that when El offered she was just being kind. That he would probably still just have to wait for blockbuster to stock Back to the Future before he could watch.

Mike did a pretty convincing job to make it seem like he wasn't too fussed about going. If he was being honest, the moment he'd sent the shorts for it he was so excited for it to come out.

He even considered making an exception and just going alone but as he thought about that happening he cringed and decided against it.

Time skip

It was now Friday night and Mike was in the basement re watching Star Wars for probably the millionth time.

He had probably received to calls that were for Mike and they were either from grandparents or doctors.

So needless to say, Mike did not rush up and asnwer the phone.

He could hear his mothers cherry voice answer the phone and began to exchange a little small talk which he could not quite hear.

5 seconds later he heard his mom call out. "Mike, phone it's for you".

Mike blinked and just sat there confused. 'Who in the world would be calling him. His birthday wasn't even close and he hadn't been expecting any results or tests back from the doctors.

So with these thoughts he walked up to the basement phone and picked it up.

"Hello?" He said as more of a question than a greeting.

"Oh hi mike" It was El. Mikes eyes basically fell out of their sockets from shock.

"El? Are you ok, do you want Nancy or something cause she's not here right now sorry"

"No i wanted to talk to you" she said simply.

"Uh about what?" He asked still confused about this out of ordinary Friday night.

"You haven't forgot already have you? Back to the future, cinema, me. We were gonna go see it together"

"Oh right! Yeah no I didn't forget I just kinda thought you were kidding". He said nervously.

"Why would I do that, doesn't seem that funny to me" she mused.

"Uh well El are you seriously wanting to go to the movies with me. I mean I know it's not going out like a date or anything but still I'm not exactly ideal company.
