As a child I was chirpy, naughty and full of love and laughter. I was slender and I was very thin when compared to other kids of my age.
People always would complain why is your daughter so thin and weak and that do you (my parents) eat all the food of her share too. Funny right?
As a growing child I would often get bullied because I wasn't physically fit nor I am today? (Laughs) I wouldn't actively participate in physically challenging activities like sports but I would always be interested in singing and dancing.
People would laugh at me saying "look at that fat girl dancing" well, to be honest, my friends always supported me no matter what. Eventually everyone encouraged as they saw me doing well at it.
There was always one thing that put me down. "Clothes" basically in our country there wasn't much importance given to plus size people and clothing. We would have to get it stitched or make short tunics out of kurtis. Been there, done that.
Later on there were options available as I grew older but the clothes weren't fashionable as they are now. If you are a plus size women, is it that you can't be fashionable enough ? The society now accepts the plus size community like never before.
Be it school or college, growing years have been a little difficult if not much. People would pass comments, stare and even laugh at me, judge me on how I look and how I dress. Would comment you are so cute but if you loose some kilos you would look even better. I agree. I would even try.
Healthy eating habits will definitely change your life for good. But, body shaming is no good. It's a serious form of bullying and harassment. It can lead to serious consequences and suicidal thoughts for many. Let's support and encourage each other and make this world a better place to live in.
