Confusion Struggle Part 2/4

My heart beats….

like rain against a darkened window.

My mind travels…

like a man without a map.

I love the rain…

I love my heart…

But when the they keep me awake at night…

I’m left to wander in thought…

wander endlessly in dark, painful confusion.

My eyes are shadowed…

the way dreams shadow the truth.

My dreams play with me…

the way a spider plays a captured fly.

There’s no rational explanation…

aside from the spider’s desire for insurance.

The insurance of the inevitable consumption of the fly...

the fly grows weaker and weaker, the spider not a tad stronger…

but the success of the vicious spider dream consumes me nonetheless.

My metaphors are read in confusion…

the same confusion that wrote them

The meanings are present…

the same presence that makes them disappear.

Like glass a glass floor above a pit…

only a ray of light can announce their presence.

I have no such light....

but their duty of keeping me from falling…

is nevertheless relevant to reality.
