Y/N POV

It was 3:12 in forth period.  I was staring at the clock for the past 15 minutes, just watching the red hand tick the rest of the day away. I let the clock put me in a trance, while i tapped my pencil on my desk to every second that ticked by. I was so deep in my thoughts I forgot where I even was, until Mr. Kato scolded me.

"Ms. (L/N), would you like to pay attention to the lesson?"

I could feel all the eyes on me , and the embarressment warmed up my cheeks. "Yes, sir." I said

I decided to quickly write down the equations that were on the whiteboard into my notes. They were sloppy and hard to understand, though I didn't even understand the material to begin with. When I finished, there was only 5 minutes left in class. I spent the rest of my time looking out the window. I watched the clouds float by; they were moving in the same direction that the wind was blowing. The cherry blossom petals gently flew along with the breeze, creating a wave of pinks and reds in the air. Spring was always the most beautiful time of year, it was the only time I could ever really see the true beauty of nature.

The bell rang and I slowly looked away from the window and started to pack my things. The kids pushed and shoved their way to the door, leaving myself at the end of the pack. While everyone was exiting, I heard Mr. Kato say my name. I turned around, and he was sitting at his desk, gesturing me to come stand by him. I followed his orders.

"Yes Mr. Kato?" I said.

" Ms. (L/N)... I have noticed your focus in class has been lacking. And sadly it's been affecting your grades." he said

" Do you want me to stay in after school again?" I asked him

"We have been doing that for the past few months now, and your grades have been taking a nose dive. I'm afraid I cannot help you anymore."

"What? Then how am I supposed to get better?"

" I suggest finding a different math tutor, maybe someone who you will be able to connect with more. Maybe finding someone younger in age would be better at coming up with strategies that are useful for you." He opened his desk and rummaged through his papers.

"Ah, here it is" he said, while handing me a notecard with names, numbers, and adresses on them.

"Those are some math tutors who are worth giving a call. There are also plenty of tutors online that you can find."

"Alright... Thank you Mr. Kato." I said. I turned around and finally left the class.

I walked home, and the wind was picking up quite a bit. I shoved the notecard in my pocket so it couldn't fly free. I was starting to shiver, my old (L/C) jacket had been worn out so badly that it couldn't even keep me warm in mild temperatures. After the long walk, I opened the door to my sister's house. When I entered, I felt a wave of warmth come over me.

"Hey (Y/N)! How was school today?" asked my sister, Lia. (If your name is Lia, make something up for your sister instead)

I hesitated. "It was, uhh.. It was okay.." I mummbled. She came out of the kitchen and into the living room, where I was leaning against the couch.

"Just okay? What is it now (Y/N)?" she asked, with a stern look on her face.

She wanted an answer, and she was gonna get it. " I need to find a new math tutor." I said.

Lia's eyes lowered in disappointment . "You haven't gotten any better with your focus have you?"

I stayed quiet, she already knew the answer and there was no point in me telling her.

"Okay, well hopefully this time we'll get it right, okay?" She reassured  me, putting her hand on my shoulder. I nodded, and she let me go upstairs and into my room.

I threw my backpack on the beanbag chair and flopped onto my bed, with my face smashed into the pillow. I took a deep breathe. I was tired and I just wanted to fall asleep right away.

Minutes went by and I think I might have dozed off for a while. I slowly opened my eyes and flipped around. My room was dark, only with some sunlight shining through the blinds. I stared at the ceiling, thinking about all the homework that I had, and how I was gonna put it off.

I pulled the paper out of my pocket and looked at it. I scanned the names and numbers. There was no choice, I had to do something about this wheather I wanted to or not. I gently placed the paper on my bedside table.

"(Y/N)! Dinner's ready!" Lia shouted from downstairs.

I rolled off my bed, grumbling. As I stood up, I looked at my old photo of my parent's and I when I was just a little girl. When ever I looked at it, I couldn't help but smile.

"I wish you were still here..." I said, picking up the framed picture. "You would know how to help me."
