The Amateur

The Day.

It took months of convincing, being ignored and let down. With time, a sad girls parents, Aaron and Charity,  reached the maximum point of hearing about this idea and "fantasy" their daughter had. Jay, Charity's daughter, was called into the living room around 4:30pm. Aaron, waited for her to sit down, told her 
"You win this one, we will go check out this gym, I lived in the neighborhood for a while years ago. Who knows, maybe it'll be good for you."
Jay smiles, thanked them and replied  "Im gonna text my friend and  let her know we will be there tonight."
Charity, with a curious look, asked
"Which friend was it again that wants you to come?"     
  "Faith, you've met her a few times at school events I believe"  her mother smiles and nods, signaling that Jay can now leave the room.

Jay enters her bed room and sits down on the edge of her bed, picking up her phone to tell Faith the news.
~She starts typing~
-Hey! You said 6 is when the gym opens right?

Faith answers almost instantaneously.

-Hey J! Yeah, why?
~a second text is sent from faith~
-Are your parents finally letting you come?!

A smile spreads across Jays face as she answers
- yeah, we are gonna go over there a little bit before hand so they can talk to the people. I'm gonna talk to them as well after my parents leave so I can get a feel of the way things run there.
-sweet!! I can't wait, I'll see you tonight J♥️

Jay looks up from her phone, she realizes that she's not been this excited for something in a while. She stands up and walks over to the mirror beside her closest, she lays a hand on her cheek, her other hand rapped around her waist. She drops her hand and lays it on top of her other, the small smile, she isn't used to seeing, fades away quickly as her eyes wonder down the mirror seeing the rest of her body. She turns away from the mirror and covers her face. After a moment she runs her hand through her long, brownish-red hair before pulling it up into a ponytail. She wipes her face, although there's no tears, trying to clear her mind. Walking over to her closet, she grabs a panic! at the disco mussel shirt and pulls it over her black tank-top. She puts on her black running pants that have a blue pattern around the waist. After she puts on her light grey Nike's, she grabs her earbuds and phone then heads into the kitchen to grab a water bottle.
Aaron walks outside to start the car, Charity peeps into the kitchen and says "You ready?" While putting their dog on a leash.
Jay glances over her shoulder then follows her mom and puppy out of the house.

After a fairly awkward ten minute car ride, they walk into the gym, Aaron ask if they could speak to someone about Jay joining.
Twenty long minutes later, Faith walks in as Jays parents finish talking to the coach and sign a waiver.
