The young woman sat at the small table, feet tucked under her chair, hands folded neatly in her lap. She stared down at the surface of the white table, although there was nothing placed in front of her. She doesn't look up when the man in the white coat approaches her.
"Hello, Susie, how are we doing today?" He asks, taking a seat across from her. He speaks casually, like they are old friend's catching up after not seeing each other for a while, but she knows better. She doesn't respond.
"Susie, can you look up at me please?" He says, taking a small flashlight out of his pocket, "You know what's next." She hates that name. Susie. It doesn't fit, she knows it doesn't fit. She can't remember what she used to be called, but she knows it was never Susie. Regardless, she looks up at the man.
"Hello Doctor Finnick." She says. Her voice is soft, but does not soothe him the way it should. With a chill going down his spine, he turns the flashlight on and shines it into her eyes. He waves the flashlight back and forth, an after a few moments nods to himself. He pockets the flashlight and takes notes on the clipboard he brought in with him. She sighs, and closes her eyes, leaning back in her chair just a bit as she did so. The lights flickers, Doctor Finnick jumps.
"Susie you know you're not supposed to close your eyes." He says, "I need you to open them now, please." He tries to come off sounding calm, but like always when this happens, he can't help that his heart is starting to pound a little harder in his chest. "Susie?" She hasn't moved from her position, eyes still closed and head still thrown back. The lights flicker again; and one goes out.
"Susie!" The doctor shouts, "Open your eyes!" The area under her chair is dark, had it been dark before? Doctor Finnick gets up and bolts for the only door to the room, located behind him. Before he reaches it, there is a loud buzzing sound and a metal fail-safe slams down over the door.
"No!" He shouts, pounding on the new door, "NO! Please don't do this, there's still time, let me out!" He looks above the door, at the camera watching the room while he begs and pounds on the door. "Let me out, please!"
"Thank you for your contribution to this project, Dr. Finnick." A voice says, filling the room, "Rest assured your family will be notified of your unfortunate death from an unforeseeable action while working, and will be fairly compensated for their loss. It was a pleasure working with you." The doctor groans in fear, hitting the door one more time. Behind him, the darkness underneath her has spread out in tentacle like waves, covering the entire table within seconds. The table groans as the darkness covers it, and reduces it to nothing. The dark tentacles keep spreading out, now having devoured the chair she was sitting on, and covering the area all around her with darkness.
Dr. Finnick turns around, finally, and lets out a scream. She is covered to the waist in darkness, her eyes still closed.
"Please." He says, "Susie, please don't do this." At the sound of his voice, she opens her eyes and looks at him. Her eyes are dark pools of black; just as he feared. She tilts her head at him, as the black swarms up her body. Soon only her face is still showing. Dr. Finnick is so captivated by this, he doesn't feel the tentacle wrap around him until it is too late. Screaming, he tries to hold on to the fail safe door, but another tentacle shoots out of the giant shadow, and then another and another; soon half his body is wrapped in the black vines. They tighten around him as they pull him towards the her face. His screams are heard, even after his body is completely pulled into the darkness, followed by the sound of bones crunching. Just as her face is completely covered by the darkness, her voice carries out loud and clear:
"Don't call me Susie."

In another room, a group of three are standing around a monitor, watching the little room become slowly encased in darkness. In the middle stands a middle aged woman, with short cut red hair and black rimmed glasses that wing out on the edges. To her right is a heavy set man in a well tailored suit, sweating as he stares at the screen in front of him. To the woman's right is another man, this one dressed in a security uniform. He can't help but put his hand on his gun as he watches the shadow devour the now late Dr. Finnick.
"We're going to have to hire a replacement." The heavyset man says, "Are you really going to notify Tom's family?" Beside him, the woman scoffs.
"Don't be absurd, Brutus." She says, "We'll send a team out to take care of the Finnick family. All you need to worry about is finding his replacement."
