"Luciel! They have Hunter x Hunter merch!" The small otaku chirped, hopping over to show the male the arrangement of plushes she snatched and fully planned on buying. A plush of each of the four main characters.
Luciel glanced over. "Haruka, we came here for groceries." Another male sighed, the two's older brother. Well, technically only Haruka's. The two's family had taken in the runaway boy in and accepted him as family, so he did see the older male as a brother of the sort. "I'll buy it for her." Luciel offered. "You shouldn't spoil her." Alex huffed. "It's fine, I want the Leorio plush anyways." He hummed, offering a smile to the older male.
"Fine." The male sighed, already having paid for the food they needed for dinner. "Be quick." He said, walking outside and going across the street, waiting under the shade.
Luciel waited in line with Haruka, handing her the bag after he purchased it and offered his childhood friend a cheeky smile. "You know, if we met them in real life, I have dibs on Leorio," Luciel said with a cheeky grin. "I'd get the other three?" She asked, her heart fluttering at the possibility. Her very own harem~
He chuckled. "Yeah, all yours." He said as they walked out of the store. "If only our anime babes were real~ I'd be happy to just see a 2030 fan cosplaying as them." The girl swooned, twirling as they walked. "Don't let your delusions of a harem getting to your head." He said. "Whatever! Your just jealous that you don't have these charms!" She said, stopping in the middle of the street to look at him, doing a casual hair flip. "Oh yes, I'm so jealous, my queen. Please let me be apart of your harem, I oh so beg of you." Luciel joked. The two childhood friends abrupted in laughter.
However, a loud explosion cut their fun short. All that could be heard around them was ringing. No one else seemed to hear it though, everyone across the street to busy on their phones and distracted by their music. It was a small town, so the two could guess what the three teens across the street were doing. They were in their class after all. Perhaps it was because they were too focused on seeing if anyone else heard it, or perhaps it was because their ears were still ringing that they didn't hear the honks coming from the speeding truck coming toward them. They saw the headlights and looked toward the direction, feet were frozen still. They were like seers trapped in a headlight, and in a way they were.
Haruka's POV
Sharp pangs of unbearable pain began to spread through my body. I wanted to scream, to cry, but I was too weak.
I opened my eyes, seeing Luciel's ashen body a few feet away from me. I tried calling out his name, but nothing. What was that warm feeling? I saw a red covering my sight.
I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying. Holy fuck, I'm too young! I haven't watched all the animes on my list yet! No, I can't die here!
Luciel's POV
Everything went dark. Everything was ringing. I could hear people talking around me, but I couldn't make out anything they were saying. My eyes fluttered open, just a tad. Haruka was on the ground, she too hardly conscious. Our brother ran over, screaming something. I imagine it was something along the lines, 'stay with us.' Or 'your not allowed to die now.'
So this was how death felt like, huh? I could feel a weak chuckle leaving my body. I'm surprised it even came out. I'm dying. We both were.
I reached my hand out and grabbed Haruka's, arms trembling. I didn't have much strength, and it felt like my limbs could fall off at any moment. I saw her look at me, tears flowing down her cheeks.
Man, we were supposed to begin another marathon of Hunter x Hunter again...
