I believe that the hufflepuff common room just has a list of the other houses passwords, on the notice board. And whenever it gets changed and a hufflepuff finds out what it is they change it on the list. So thats how the hufflepuffs, one know all the gossip and, two check in on and hang out with their friends from other houses
