Traces

Traces of him, I will never let leave.
The one I loved the most, this is for you.

Her hand moved slowly, painfully, steadily,
Across walls adorned with memories of the past,
Remembering the warm arms that once embraced and left too fast.

Her ears hear the bleak echoes of despair,
His laughter, a distinctive sound in her memory,
She could almost feel it that was too much to bear.

She wanted to blame it on you, but she blamed herself too.
You probably wouldn't know how much she loved you,
She kept those words so close to her heart, and letting it out was far too late.

The tears refused to fall, it is hard to accept.
She wanted to live in the past she created, and not this terrible mishap.
Is it okay to go now? To where you are at.
You always looked so bright in her dreams,
As you smiled and tell her that the past is only a beautiful memory.

It is too hard to hold on now,
The traces of you still live on in her wounds,
It is too hard to hold on now,
Her heart is breaking as much as she allowed.

Lights flickering, like the candles on the bed,
A girl laid unmoving, wishing it was her instead.
A smile traced her lips, bloodied red,
The tears laid in her eyes, the present slowly fades.

Janelle.
