"We should play Seven Minutes in Heaven!"

Kevin looked up from his phone to the source of the voice and raised a brow. "Who told you about Seven Minutes?"

Skellie propped herself up on her pillow, placing her hands under her chin. She was wearing a big pajama shirt with a cat on it, and presumably some shorts underneath. "Nova did before you got here," she said, gesturing her head toward the vampire next to her, who seemed just as excited as Skellie did. "It sounds like fun!"

Nova, in her tank top and shorts, was scrolling through something on her phone as she replied, "We looked up sleepover games and found all kinds of stuff, but Skellie really wanted to do this one." She finally looked up at Kevin and gave a small laugh. "I'm not really sure why."

Kevin glanced at Rue, who was sitting by him, arms hugging a pillow over his chest. The robot still had on his clothes from earlier that day in school, even the jeans. He hadn't said anything about the game yet; it looked like he was staring at the floor. "Did they tell you about it earlier?"

"Mm-mm," Rue mumbled through the pillow, and his gaze lifted from his fixated spot to look at Kevin. "What is it?"

Kevin opened his mouth to reply, but Nova quickly butted in herself. "Well, Seven Minutes of Heaven is a little game where two people are randomly picked to go inside a dark closet for seven minutes, and they can do whatever they want."

Rue tilted his head and blinked his blue eyes. "Like what?"

"Just whatever, dude!" Kevin practically jumped into the conversation once he saw Nova begin to smirk. Rue turned to him with wide eyes, and Kevin felt color rush to his cheeks. "Y-You can talk, or just... sit there for seven minutes."

Skellie huffed and plopped back down onto the pillow. "That's not nearly as fun as how Nova described it."

Kevin shifted in his spot on the floor and shared a hard glance with Nova before looking back at his phone. "Besides, I don't even think we have enough people to play it properly."

Nova shrugged. "We have enough for four turns," she said, gliding her hand around the room at the three other kids. "Which leaves us even more time for... other activities," she added with a sharp, toothy grin.

"Let's play! Let's play!" Skellie exclaimed as she wriggled to sit up on her sleeping bag. Even though the party was in her room, she opted to sleep on the floor with everyone else and, as she put it, "make it fair."

Almost immediately after Nova started tapping at something on her phone, she then smiled. "First up is Kevin and Rue."

Kevin's brows furrowed as the heat returned to his cheeks, turning them bright red. "What? How do you-" He moved to grab at Nova's phone, but she pulled away giggling. "How do you know?"

"Random generator," Nova said through laughter and waved her phone screen at him, but not long enough for Kevin to see anything. Then she shrugged. "We all have to go with each other eventually. It looks like the boys are kicking it off for us."

Something was shining in Nova's stare that made Kevin take a deep breath and get to his feet. What was he so scared of? Rue had learned many emotions and social cues so far in his time alive, but there was no way he knew about anything... like that yet. "Ugh, fine. Come on, Rue," he said, beckoning his friend to the nearby closet. Without a response, Rue complied and followed him over.

Skellie was quite small despite her teenage behavior but always insisted on keeping her bed, shelves, and closet the same height as everyone else's. So when Kevin opened the closet, he noticed it wasn't as tiny as he thought. However, it definitely wasn't some walk-in closet either.
