The crescent moon glittered brightly in the calm September night. The election posters were clearly visible in the moonlight in combination with the street lights. The crispy steps were clearly heard in the gravel. The knife almost slipped out of his hand with all the sweat. The woman in front of him was well-rested and without hesitation, he stabbed the knife straight into her throat.
A second of regret occurred when he saw her lying on her back and spasmodically breathing. He pulled out the knife and for a few seconds, he saw how life were drained from her.
This brief moment of remorse was now replaced instead, there was a feeling of passion and commitment. He sat down on a bench next to it and took out his notebook and his graphite pen and began drawing.
After a few minutes, he got up, left the drawing on top of her body, and walked away quickly.
Quickly into the staircase and into the elevator. He drew a sigh of relief as he stepped out of the elevator to meet no one and quickly unlocked the door so he could enter.
He rushed straight to the bathroom, ripped off his clothes and dropped the knife on the shower floor. The warm water fluttered against his body and he was filled with a sense of mixed pride and self-hatred.
He lay down carefully in the bed and looked at his wife who was sleeping innocently, kissed her on the forehead and fell asleep.
