"So the doors open at seven and I asked my cousin to come at two o'clock to start doing hair and makeup for us all," Heidi explained.

"That's perfect Heidi!" Breanna said excitedly.

The girls began exchanging makeup and hairstyle ideas.

"What are going going to do, Asha?" Mollie asked, and I shrugged.

"I'm not sure about makeup yet, but I know how I want my hair," I told them. I went into my photos and found the hairstyle that I had chosen, showing it to the girls.

"Oh that is stunning, I wish my hair was long enough to do that!" Casey said, grabbing at her shoulder length hair with a sigh.

"You don't want my hair, trust me. It's a pain!" I reassured her, and she rolled her eyes at me.

"Oh no!" she imitated, "My gorgeous long locks that everyone fawns over are annoying, how will I go on?!"

"Shut up," I muttered, throwing my empty drink bottle at her.

The rest of the week dragged on and before I knew it, it was Saturday morning. I woke up early, giving myself time to shower and wash off the residue from my fake tan. The girls and I had all gone to a salon on Friday afternoon, getting manicures, pedicures, hair treatments and fake tans. Except Mollie, Mollie didn't get a tan. Her brown skin glowed more beautifully than all of ours put together.

I had chosen to get a nude nail polish on my nails, not wanting to take away from the gorgeous wine colour of my dress. I moisturised my entire body thoroughly and relaxed until 11am, then texting Heidi to ask if I could come over.

Me: hey girl, can I head over now? I'm getting stir crazy at home haha x

Heidi: yeah come over babe, no one is here yet so we can just chill until they come over 💋

My mum drove me to Heidi's, kissing me on the cheek and telling me to enjoy my night at the formal.

"Please try to have fun tonight Asha," she said, "I know the past few weeks have been tough on you, but don't let that ruin your night, okay?"

"I'll try mum, I really will. I love you!" I said, leaning over the centre console and pulling her into a tight hug.

"I love you too sweetie, I'll see you tomorrow morning!" she said, and I got out of the car and waved goodbye. I walked up Heidi's exceptionally long driveway and rang the doorbell to her mansion. Assuming Heidi was in her room, I waited for her to come and answer the door. Her room was on the other side of the house, so I knew it would take her a while to answer it.

"Hi! Sorry, I was in my room!" Heidi said breathlessly as she pulled open the door.

"It's fine!" I said, walking into the house as she closed the door behind me.

"You can hang your dress up in the closet for now," she suggested, and we walked up to her room to relax until the other girls arrived.

I carefully placed my dress in the closet next to hers and we slumped down onto her bed, turning on her tv.

"What do you want to watch?" she asked me.

"Nothing romantic!" I said with a laugh, but I actually meant it.

"'Nightmare on Elm Street' it is," she laughed, clicking on the movie option and settling herself under the covers.

Halfway through the movie the doorbell rang, and in walked Amanda, Casey and Mollie. They each had their dresses with them and they all wore big smiles on their faces.

"I can't believe today is the day!" Amanda squealed.

"Chill, you're not getting married!" Casey rolled her eyes, earning a slap on her arm from Amanda.

"I think I put more work into this formal than I will with my wedding," Amanda admitted, and we all laughed as we walked up to Heidi's bedroom.

Two o'clock arrived, and Heidi's cousin and her coworkers were knocking on the front door. The girls and I ran downstairs to greet them, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what they had brought. Each of the makeup and hair stylists had a large suitcase, no doubt filled with hair and makeup products. How someone could own that much...I had no idea.

"Sammy!" Heidi squealed, wrapping her arms around the girl standing at the front door.

"Hey baby cuz, how are you?" Sammy said, hugging her cousin tightly.

"Hey girls, nice to meet you all!" Sammy said, going around in a circle and hugging us all.

"Okay so I've cleared out one of the guest bedrooms, it has the best lighting so we can do our makeup in there!" Heidi said excitedly.

"Lead the way," Sammy laughed, and Heidi began running up the stairs, leaving us all to follow behind her.
