I leaned against the door and sighed. Dylan stood there with a confused look on his face. I stood back up hastily and grabbed his arm too.
"You should go too. I get distracted when you're around." Dylan laughed, but gathered his stuff and pecked me on the cheek.
"See you." The door closed behind him and I counted to five before I screamed.

I opened the clear glass door of the coffee shop I had first gone to after that party where I first met Lucas, and closed my umbrella. It was pouring rain and, juts like it had been before, very late at night. I had just came from a cocktail party for my mother's new fashion line of shoes, when I got a call from Lucas. I had answered, and greedily told him I'd meet him. Anything to get out of that party.

"Lucas?" The restraunt was pitch black, still making me question that 24/7 sign outside. I ran into a table and cursed silently. I saw a light flick on in the back and shuffled towards it.
"Nikki is that you?" Lucas called out.
"No its a serial killer Where do you keep your steak knives I'm going to... Make you a sandwich." I said as I appered in the doorway.
"Left drawer next to the fridge. Don't forget the mayo." He said, looking up. He was pulling a skillet out of a drawer.
  "Hey." I said smiling.
"Hey." A grin light up his face. He looked me up and down. Dark purple stelito's, white jeans, and a dark purple jacket that flarred out at the elbows. "You look fancy." He raised his ebrow, and walked over to a massive refridgerator.
"I just came from a cocktail party for my moms fashion line. Sparkling apple juice is the new champagne." I said, sitting down at the table I'm guessing Lucas pulled into the kitchen.
"Oh yeah, thats the stuff." he said. I laughed.
"So, why'd you call me?" I asked him, crossing my legs and leaning back in the chair. He froze momentarily as he set some ingredients on the counter.
"I wanted to ask you something."
"Shoot." I said without thinking. Then it hit me. When ever someone says that, I get terrified. I fidgeted, in my chair, and waited.
"Are you dating Dylan?" Lucas asked, spinning around.
  "Why?" I asked.
"Well, my impression was that you hated him. Why was he at your house?" I sighed, and waved my hand in the air.
"My stupid drama teacher is making us do another project together."
"Again?" I remembered Alicia telling me he had gone with her to the play. I cursed silently.
"Yeah. She said we worked 'so well together for the play, we can do another project'. She wants to do the Phantom of the Opera in the spring. Guess who I'd be." I rolled my eyes.
"Christine Daae." He leaned against the counter, and crossed his arms. I never really noticed how cute Lucas was with his blonde hair and amber eyes and muscled body. He was really cute. I coughed. "So, you never answered my question. Are you dating him?"

I was going to tell him the truth, I really was. I was going to say he asked me out after the play (well 2 days later, but whatever). I honestly was. But what I blurted out was far from the truth.
"Nope." I wished I had a glass of water, my throat was bone dry.
But when I saw Lucas start to smile I sat up straighter. "Why are you smiling?" I asked him.
"No reason. Now, what would you like to eat?"

We had a lovely dinner of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. All gourmetly cooked of course. Lucas andI laughed and talked about nothing in particular. I asked him about school, he asked me about my mom's work and everywhere in the world I'd been. Apperently he really wanted to travel once he graduated.
When it came time to leave it was still pouring rain outside. Lucas offered towalk me to my car. What a gentelmen.

"Thanks for inviting me over Lucas, I had a great time." I said. We were standing rather close together under the umbrella, He gave memost of it, but that didn't stop me from getting wet as well.
"I'm glad you came Nikki." He smiled at me, and the wind blew the rain harder, we moved closer together.
"Lucas, before I leave will you answer a question for me?" I blurted out. I just had to find out why he had asked if I was dating Dylan. So I asked him.
His face turned red, and I shivered."Well, I was wondering... If, uh. You wanted to er- go out with me. Cause your like, the prettiest girl I've ever met, and your super smart and funny. Your talented, and you don't let your rich life style get to you. Not a lot of people are like that now-"
   "Lucas?"
  "Yeah?"
"Shut the hell up and kiss me will ya?" He grinned and leaned forward. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he kissed me. His lips were soft and tasted like syrup. He was incredibly sweet and soon rain was pounding down on us, the umbrella having fell out of my hands.

When we pulled apart Lucas looked at me. "I'll take that as a yes?"

  All I did was nod.
