''As seasons change, as Earth shifts, the gods can gain or loose [power]. They fall into slumber when they are not needed in their world, allowing a balance that keeps change in line.''

-The Sinnoan Archives

Welp, new idea for the Godverse

I actually thought about this concept for a while now and now I can finally apply it to something, of course this idea has some holes and might not make it to the final AU, but it is worth sharing.

The quote up there is an entry from the Sinnoan Archives, a hidden location in well... Sinnoh... And man was that hard to find, I searched for 5 hours for that thing! Anyway, its straight forward, no hidden meanings and stuff

okay I should stop stalling

Like the text says, the idea is that certain gods go into a sleep-like state(currently nameless) during certain seasons, like how Plant gods will go into this state during winter. The reason is simple, gods are obviously connected to their aspect, they take care of them and if that aspect stays healthy and not being screwed over by Humanity, the gods remain powerful(which is why the gods are trying to modernize, Ingo and Emmet and some Electric gods already did it, and that went well. no really). This dormant thing depends on the god but it's just more convenient when they do it

god I'm bad at explaining this

just use your imagination guys

I feel like there should this legend in Sinnoh that basically says that some evil jerk mortal or something decided to screw nature and during one winter, somehow makes Gardenia, the Sinnoan Forest goddess, to stay dormant for longer than she should be, and the useless gods can't do anything about it. Candice, the Sinnoan Goddess of the Cold North, can't just end winter then and there since, ya know, Gardenia is still asleep and the plant life would immediately shrivel up and die, so by keeping winter for a bit longer, you can say Candice is just 'delaying' spring, but for course you can't delay something forever, so eventually the plant life will die(I forgot to mention this, but while dormant, gods still seep out their power so that nature is not completely obliterated by their absence). It took about a month and a half after(about...April I think) before some protagonist fixes the problem. ya know Sinnoh's freezing north? yeah I think that should be a sort of scar resulted from the longer winter. Maybe the protagonist couldn't completely solve the problem and the result is that Sinnoh has longer winters or something

idk man

Ya know I think that the Ice gods should like, reside in a mountain peak or something when its not winter, but how do they not go dormant? like, think about this, the plant gods still need to take care of the conifers and stuff during winter even while dormant, but in some regions the total area of conifer forests can equal to the total area of a mountain's ice cap during summer, so why do plant gods go dormant? but then again this depends on the god and-- OH MY GODS WAIT A SEC. doesn't the land just rest during winter??? even trees who's leaves have fallen off are very alive, seeds in the ground, saplings, mosses, they're all alive but resting, so does the god stay awake to tend to their plants or do they rest with them? leaving them to the hands of the region's Ice god. I have no idea anymore

what's with me and my confusing ideas???

screw it back to the drawing board
