author's pov
(monday afternoon)
colby sat by himself eating his lunch, which consisted of a small, ham sandwich and a bottle of gatorade. brennen slammed his ass down onto the seat, making the table rattle. colby sighed and stood up, about to walk away. brennen grabbed his hand.
"we can't just keep ignoring this, c," he sighed sadly.
"i'm not ignoring anything, brennen. you have feelings for me, i don't have feelings for you, all this time i've been making excuses not to go out with you, like how people will look at us. do you really think i care about how people look at me? or what they think of me? no, i fucking don't. get over your feelings brennen, it's ruining this friendship and you know it. but you can't let it go. just because you want to be with me, but i don't want the same, and i've made it clear, but you just don't get the fucking hint. and don't call me c," colby practically yelled, getting looks from all over the cafeteria. brennen stayed sat where he was, colby pulling his hand away and searching for a place to sit. brennen sat with tears clouding his eyes. he was sure colby felt the same. they flirted all the time. but brennen had made it all up in his head, colby was just simply being friendly and polite. colby looked around, seeing the blonde - sam - sat by himself on a table in the far corner. colby smiled to himself and made his way over, sitting on the seat opposite him. sam looked up, slightly distraught, and smiled nervously.
"h-hi," he mumbled, almost inaudible.
"hey! how's your day been here so far," colby smiled warmly.
"p-pretty good. a-apart f-f-from your f-friend t-this m-m-morning," he smiled gently. a sight for sore eyes. his stutter was adorable, along with his smile.
"like i said earlier, it won't be happening again, i promise. and if he does stuff behind my back, tell me asap. i'll sort him out. he's honestly just jealous," colby continued smiling, watching sam take a small sip of his orange juice.
"w-what's he j-j-jealous o-of?" sam asked, fiddling with his hands.
"you, pretty much. between me and you, i think you're absolutely gorgeous, and he knows that. he's been trying to get with me for about a year now, and i'm sick of it. i don't like him in that way, whatsoever," i explained sighing.
"i-i f-f-figured f-from the c-commotion e-earlier," he giggled. oh my god, that was the best thing i'd heard in a while. sam had finished his food, along with colby.
"let me take that for you," colby smiled again as sam went to take his tray. sam smiled gratefully and thanked him, following closely behind him.
