I started walking back to my car when he ran after me and grabbed my arm.
'Rebecca, wait! I want to ask you something....' he said sounding a little nervous.
'Yes?' I asked curiously.
Then something completely unexpected happened. He asked me the question I had come here to ask him. I was completely shocked..
'Um..I was wondering if maybe you'd...like to go to the dance with me tomorrow?.' he asked
Did that just happen? I asked my self. Of course not, it's just my imagination. But what if it's not? My train if thought was interrupted by Mitch.
'Um, Rebecca are you going to answer?' He asked me.
'What?' I asked, 'What did you just say?'
'Are you going to answer?' He said confused
'No, before that.' I said
'Will you go to the dance with me tomorrow?'
I hesitated still not sure that this was actually happening. He had never shown any signs of liking me before.
'Yea sure, I guess.' I said.
'You guess?'He said
'That's not how that sounded in my head. Sorry.'
'It's okay. At least I have a date with the hottest girl in the school.'
Wait. He did not just say that. I've never even had a boyfriend before and suddenly I'm suddenly the hottest girl in school?
'Did you just call me the hottest girl in the school? I've never even had a boyfriend.' I told him.
'Really? That's hard to believe. Your smart, funny, beautful. I would date you in a second.' He addmitted.
'You would?' I asked him as I looked down at my body.
'Of course.' He told me.
'Thanks.'
'No problem.'
I noticed the time on his watch and realized I had to get back home. If I wasn't back by six mom would cut my head off and eat me for supper.
' Sorry, but I have to go. If I'm not home by six mom will kill me. Thanks for the invite to the dance! See you tomorrow!'
I ran and got into my car and drove off.
