Death is the only thing in life not left up to people. Their lives will eventually end and its up to them how they choose to live it. Alric knew this, but never thought he would become that which was definite.

On that cloudy day in June, he stood and looked over the edge of the cliff just outside of town. The evening breeze was chilly and the air humid, dark clouds threatening to pour themselves onto the earth. It had been sunny just an hour ago during the graduation ceremony. Alric had finished high school as an average student and graduated with the love of his life. They had been with each other for 5 years. Right after graduation, Alric had seen her making out with one of the football players.

"What are you doing?" He asked. "I thought you loved me. She looked at him and chuckled before scoffing.

"Love? You? No one could love you. I was doing a dare."

At this, Alric ran away, dropping his diploma and going to the cliff where he now stood with tears in his eyes. He finally made up his mind and stepped over the edge with closed eyes. Thunder boomed and then silence...

Alric slowly opened his eyes and looked around. He was in some kind of room with a black theme. He stood from the fancy Victorian style bed and walked over the the mirror. He had a new body, and new clothes. It was as if he had been reincarnated. He stepped out of the room into a hotel-like hallway and made his way downstairs to the lobby. Someone was reading a book on a couch. Alric went to leave, but saw only white when the door opened.

"You can't leave." The other person suddenly said. "You're the new aspect. You've been randomly chosen as the aspect of Death. Who you were before doesn't matter."

Alric seemed confused, but as the years went on, he learned. He changed his name so he could truly be rid of his past and now goes by Landon, the Aspect of Death.
