It was just another Sunday in Woodbridge, Virginia. To the naked eye it looked like a normal day, just one girl in an empty cafe. No one knew that this would be the best and worst day of her life. Moving on. In Woodbridge Sundays were about one thing, church! If you didn't go to church you were irrelevant. For Sam Donaway, she was never relevant. She wasn't a church going person ,neither was her father. Why go to church when you don't believe in it. Sam knew tons of people who went to church just for the fact that it would look bad in a small town. Sam and her small group of friends didn't believe in that. Instead they spent their Sundays working the "graveyard" shifts, what the town all it. Sam was just that, just the girl in the coffee shop, working in the graveyard. Nothing more, nothing less. She leaned on the bar and looked onto the street. She would stare for hours on end. No one would come in, no one! The shop closed right after church. Sam's father knew that was a really bad time to be any where. All they would ask is why they weren't a church, and that was not something Sam wanted to be ask. It would be very uncomfortable. As she stared onto the street she watched as the sun poured onto it. It reminded Sam of home. It looked warm and welcoming, just like the desert she came from. She could she all the memories of home. Running in the sand with Lena, laying in the hot sun with her father, she missed home a lot. She was awoken from her state when the bell above the door with, ding. As a program robot she said. "Welcome to the little cup of heaven, what can I get you?" She didn't even make eye contact with the person at the door, she just waited for a response. She waited and waited till she finally heard a giggle from the door. "I still can't believe Mr.A makes you say that." She looked and saw her best friend, Lena, leaning on the wall. She looked at her giggling friend and rolled her eyes. Lena was Sam's oldest friend. They both moved her together along with a few others. They all lived with Sam's family because the moved to keep them safe. Sam got Lena's coffee ready the same thing she order every time she came into Heaven. She would come in right after closing the book store across the street. "So, how's Heaven today? Any new souls?" Lena asked as she took the coffee from Sam. Sam rolled her eyes again. Her eyes were bond to go into the back of her head by the end of the day. "You already know that you're like the only person that comes into the shop on Sundays." Lena chuckled. The bell went "ding" again and it was Lena's favtorie thing to hear. "Welcome to the little cup of heaven, what can I get you?" She said it like there was litallery anything better than life its self. In walk in a short, frizzy, redheaded girl and a tall handsome teen boy with dark brown hair. The boy went and put his arms around Lena and kissed her on the cheek. The red head went and sat next to her. "Mr. A still making you say that?" The boy laughed. Yet again Sam rolled her eyes. "And you're still not following the "no kissing in front of Sam" rule." She looked at her brother and her best friend with the look of Seth in her eyes. It didn't do much to help, he just kissed her again and again. With one more eye roll she turned her view to the red head. "Hey Amy how's it going?" Amy giggled like the sweet cinnamon roll she is. "Im good, You still not liking Lena and West together?" Lena looked at the love birds and then at Amy. "No I like them but I don't need to see my best Frined and my brother make out." Lena lean over the bar and smacked Sam on the head. "He kissed me on the cheek. It's not worse than what you've done." West then Smacked Lena on the head stopping her from saying more. Sam looked at them, wondering what the heck were they talking about. Sam knew better though when it came to Lena and West, don't ask. "Well moving on, Amy how's to going?" Amy took a deep breath, her life wasn't the best. "It's going, I guess." She looked down at her fiddling fingers. Sam turned her back on Amy and pulled something out of the glass case. "Maybe this can help for a little bit." She said as she put a bight red cupcake in front of Amy. Amy giggled at Sam. "Wait is that your new batch?" West asked as he was hanging on Lena. Sam shock her head, these two couldn't be away if Ra himself ripped them apart. "Yes my true brother. For your delicious pleasure I give you, the red velvet Otto, the shops new cupcake." The group giggled and laughed. Sam was able to make a cupcake inspired by anyone. West was the big brother mess, it was a mess of ingredients that shouldn't go together but do, like her brother. Well Lena was beautiful magic. Her father was the dark night, it wasn't a best seller since it was vanilla charcoal but still she had a gift. "So, now you're out of people to make cupcakes after." Lena had pointed out the obvious, like always. But, she was right, this was a far as her friend went. Has she leaned on the counter thinking about probably the only normal thing in these kids lives. Then unexpectedly the bell rang again and the programed robot came out. "Welcome to the Little Cup of Heaven, What can to get you for your godly pleasure?" Sam didn't even see who it was she just looked into space. Before the customer could even say anything Lena cut it. "Thats the whole line! Ive never heard the whole thing before!" She was dying of laugher, so much that she fell off her stool. West and Sam just shock her head as she continued to laugh on the floor. Amy was the only one worried about the well being of Lena. They all forgot that someone or someones were standing at the door. "Excuse me?!" With the fake southern voice they all knew who it was. Sam closed her eyes, took a deep breath and prepared for the personal hell she was about to enter. "What can I get you Liz?" the words were almost painful to Sam. With a flip of her perfect blonde hair Liz said. "Finally some service. I was about to call my daddy." Sam looked at Amy, as she shock her head. Out of no where one of Liz's friends or minions came right behind Amy. She slammed her fist onto the cupcake and got really close in Amy's face. "Can I help you Amy?" The girl yelled. "Bay, Get away! Sam!" West yelled. They looked at each other thinking the same thing. Lena was no longer on the floor. When she looked at her boyfriend and best friend she knew what would go down. With a deep breath an evil grin grew on both Sam and West's face. In his own fake southern accent West said "Ya'll have five seconds to get the hell out our shop before we call our daddy." His grin dropped as he waited for Liz or a minions reply. With a huff and puff Liz was pissed when she said. "You're starting a war you can't win!" West rises his ear brows, leaned on the counter and looked at Sam. Sam's evil grin got big as she looked at Liz. And in her own fake accent she said. "Remember Liz, what happens at war?" She waiting for a response from Liz but of course she didn't have one. "Death and you have no power over that." That was Sam department. You can see the fright on Liz's face. She said no more words as she signaled Bay and the other minions to leave. Two things you should know about West and Sam. They are very Egyptian and you don't mess with anyone in their group. "You okay Amy?" Lena put her arm around her. Amy looked like she was on the edge of tears. West went to the other side of Amy trying to comfort her. Sam leaned over the counter doing the same. "Amy no don't cry! She's just a stupid blonde okay?" Sam tried her best, she wasn't know for being helpful in the emotion realm. Tears from Amy started to flow. West looked at Sam and his eyes said it all. Sam what the heck!? "No Bay destroy your cupcake!" Amy said in between cries. Sam dropped her shoulders. She was starting to cry herself. "Oh Amy it's Okay!" Lena wiped Amy's tears as West rubbed her back. Sam then hopped of the counter and ran to the back room. She fell and face planted the floor when she came running back. "Im okay!"She yelled. She slammed a black box with the shops logo in front of Amy. "Here. One dozen of the red velvet Ottos." She said out of breath. The group laughed. Amy was thankful for these goof balls. Amy didn't have friends with the other kids like her. The friends she did have, were one she wasn't supposed to. They were all Egyptian and she was Greek. In the worlds they came from they were mortal enemies. "Thank you guys for being there." Amy said as she hugged West and Lena. Sam loved to see her friends happy after all they were her family. "You know what? Heaven is closed, I mean it's only ten minutes early." Sam said as she took of the deep, pink apron her dad chose of the uniform. "We'll help clean-up." Just like that Amy jumped up and got to helping. She was always helpful, Sam thinks it's her way of getting the spotlight off of her. Amy was one to keep quiet but, Sam could see through it all, she was hiding something. The shop was almost cleaned and it was peaceful till West opened his mouth. "Oh, Sam I was here to tell you that Dad needed to talk to you, he's phone was dead so he said to run down here." Sam's eyes grew wide and she dropped coffee cups, startling the others. Lena looked at her boyfriend wanting to kill him and Amy was just confused. "Dad needed to see me!" Sam yelled. Their father wasn't one you kept waiting, he was a king. You'd never keep a king waiting. "We'll clean-up, won't we West?" West sulked like a puppy when Lena yelled at him. Sam ran to the back and picked up her bag. She quickly made her way out the door and ran straight into what felt like a brick wall. Sam was down on the sidewalk, she didn't even see what she ran into all she saw was the stuff of her bag all over. As she frantically tried to collect for things she once again head-butted a brick wall or a teenager boy. "Wow, are you okay? You kinda ran into me twice now." The voice came from was not a brick wall but, yes, a teenage boy. He was handing her a book, her book. She stood up and in normal Sam fashion was trying to assert dominance. "To Kill A MockingBird by Harper Lee?" Without even a glimpse up she said. "What never heard of it? Do you live under a rock?" Sam was never good at first impression, well any impression from Sam was not a good one. To Sam's surprise the boy just laughed. Now she had to make eye contact, anyone else would have dropped the book and walked away. Sam's icy blue eyes made contact with the most gorgeous green eyes she's ever seen. It was like looking into a full forest in blown, with green leaves and vines. She didn't even see the rest of his face before a feeling grow. Sam didn't know what this feelings was, she wasn't one to have spontaneous feelings. She was mostly bland on the inside. Sam on felt feeling for her family and very close friends, also hate toward Liz and her minions. Sam took a deep breath and look at the rest of the strangers face. The feeling in her turned into a rapid beating in her heart. The was handsome, the best looking guy Sam had ever seen. She ever felt the need to smilie at him but she quickly shock her head. "Sorry for being rude. Thank you." She took the book and ran down the sidewalk. She looked back once to see that the stranger was standing there with hands in his pockets staring at her. He looked memorized by her or like he was trying to study her. Either way she had no time to dwell on the handsome stranger she was already late. She ran and ran till she reach a large, almost mansion like house. It had to be large, the house held seven kids, one dad and a dozen or so pets. Sam ran though the door, throwing her bag onto the floor and before she even made it to the stairs she heard someone yell. "Don't forget the shoes!" She ran back to the door and took off her shoes. Her father hate shoes in the house even though he wore his dress shoes all over the house. After running though the large house she made it to her father's office. He was sitting there in his throne like chair. The wall were lined to the ceiling with book selves. It was anyone dream office, at least that's what Sam's father thought. "Sit" He didn't waste any time. She sank into the large black chairs that sat in front of the oak desk. "I knew sending West was a made idea but the others were busy. Don't worry you're not in trouble." That was a huge sigh of relief from Sam, she got in trouble a lot back home. Her father got up from his throne and leaned on the front of his desk. He crossed his arms and that showed Sam that this was no laughing matter. "Dad was going on? The last time you acted this serious we moved across the world." Sam looked at her father waited for a reply. He let out a huge sigh and said. "The council met and it was voted on." He paused. When ever the council met it was over something big, you don't have fifteen of the most powerful gods get together for small matters. "Dad? What's wrong?" Sam sat up as much as she could in those giant chairs."They voted that both groups will not be separated anymore." Sam's eyes grow wide. For the pasted two thousand years Greeks and Egyptians have been kept separate for each others. "What do you mean? I thought the greek gods wanted us no where near their children." Her father shock his head. "I don't know, since I stepped but from my rule I wasn't in the meeting to know what or why this happened." Sam's father gave up his rule as the great and mighty Anubis to move to the states from Egypt. He was in charge of a number of souls that went though the underworld and now he looks after the children of other gods to keep them safe. "Where does this leave us now, we don't want to go back!" Has much as the kids love their home in Egypt they didn't want to leave Woodbridge. They were able to just be kids, there was no huge responsibility. Sam remembered the times when her father would take her down to the underworld and she had to do all his jobs for a day. She can't wait to be the guide to the underworld but she hated that she couldn't just be a teen. "No! You're not going back, I think this is a great place you kids to be. But you will have to work with the other gods." Sam had nothing to say what did he mean work with the others. What could the greeks teach her and her friends? "When the greek children turn a certain age they are now of age and that oddly enough is in two days. All the greeks kids will be turning seventeen thousand, the responsiblity we gave you kids since you turned a thousand they greek kids now have that. They hold this big gala, dress, dinner, the hold nine yard to celebrate their kids." Sam had a knack for interrupting people and her father was no exception. "Why are telling me about this gala?" Her father shock his dad, how could his daughter not get it. "Salama!" He yelled her full name, she really wasn't getting it. "You and the others are going to the gala, you will meet the others. As you know we both has gods that represent the same jobs. You will be working with a child close to the job you will have. Now do you get it?" Her father jokingly said the last part. Sam was shocked it took her that long to get it. She looked at her father and bursted out laughing, soon her followed her. After an hour or two talking to her father she left the office into her room. She was surprised to she lena and two other girls sitting in her room. Sam went and flopped next to Lena on the bed as she let out a groan. "Oh what's wrong Sammy?" Said a girl with blond hair in dutch braids. She sat up and looked at her. "Hayley, we talked about this my name is not Sammy!" She then threw a pillow at her, she was unfazed and laughed. "Did your parents talk to you about the gala?" Lena sat up with her and shock her head yes. "Zack was pissed, he doesn't want to go anywhere near the greeks but we have no choice." Nora was the other girl in the room, she sat in front of the bed looking at the wall. Zack was her twin brother who was known to have a bad temper. "Hayden wasn't happy either, he's afraid to get matched with Zeus' son or daughter." Hayden and Hayley, another set of twin, were the children or Horus and Hathor. It was a no brainer they would be matched with Zeus' twin children. "They make the biggest issue about not being anywhere near the greeks, they would even erase our memories and now they would has to be friends." Sam looked at Lena, what was she talking about? Erased memories? Who and why did someone get their memory erased. Lena looked at Sam like she needed to bite her tongue. Hayden and Nora had the same faces, what was Sam missing? Even though she wanted to know now was not the time. They had to get ready for this gala. Sam thought more and more. This meant Lena and her could be friends with the real Amy. That was good but the greek kids, she didn't get a good feeling. This truly was the best and worst day of her life.
