I padded carefully down the same street, the hard concrete icy on my bare feet. The blue mist parted revealing the same house and the same rhyme of little girls singing the same song.

“1,2 Freddy’s coming for you”

I edged past the young girls who were skipping carelessly on the dew covered grass. The door opened for me as I came closer to the house The rhyme continued as I approached the front door.

“3,4 better lock your door.”

I didn’t even know where I was going… This is getting so peculiar… I’ve experienced this dream numerous times and now it was beginning to scare me.

I stepped through the doorway onto the grubby carpet. Lightning descended from the sky and hit the ground with force, sending an alarming spark of light. The reason why the door closed maybe??

I followed a path of bloody footsteps down the hall where the door to the basement glowed. Stepping cautiously through the doorway a new layer of fog blocked my view until it eventually burst into a glow of crimson and revealed a completely new location. The boiler room… The furnaces steamed and the air was thick with heat and humidity. I turned around a furnace and the twisted face appeared again.

“Peek a boo, bitch.” He smirked at me.

“Oh no…” I choked. “…Freddy…”

“Correct answer!” He smirked clapping at my comment in a mocking tone.

“What are you doing in MY dreams Freddy??!” I snapped angrily. “I never have nightmares!! I have nice dreams! Pleasant dreams of …”

“Of what?” Freddy said ushering me on to keep talking.

“Frolicking through the fields with…” I mumbled trailing off.

“Who?” Freddy said grinning. He already knew about my awkward dreams. He was creeping on me before, the little burned creep.

“Never you mind who!” I snapped and attempting to sashay off. Instead he stopped me and glared me in the eyes, with an evil glint in them.

“Look Michaela-“

“Fine! Okay okay I’ll tell you it was –“ I was cut off.

“NO! Shut up!” He hollered at me. “Wanna play a game?” He smirked at me.

“Boggle?”

“No, I want to play the Elm Street games.” He grinned raising his brow bones. (He has no eyebrows)

“Skipping???”

“Will you be quiet?!” He boomed.

“Okay, grumpy pants.” I muttered.

“I need a replacement. I’m looking for a young male or female to help me out. So I need your help, you’re one of the selected. The last one fighting will be the winner. The rest will meet their death. Well, they would have already met their death by the end.” He cackled.

“I don’t want to compete! You can’t make me, I won’t do it!” I protest.

“Oh, I’ll make sure you will” He purred. With that he flicked out his blades in front of my face causing me to jump back. “Oh yeah and I know it was Michael Jackson you dreamt about last night.”

“AAARGH, Freddy you’re such a CREEPER!” I yelled at him in frustration.

I attempted to throw a punch at him but he vanished with a big grin on his face.

My eyes shot open and I was drenched in cold sweats, trembling head to toe.

“No way I’m going back to sleep.” I scoffed.

I headed out the front door and as I turned to close it a voice called out to me.

“Hey Michaela!” Dan called.

“Dan? What are you doing here?” I asked.

“Just visiting.” He shrugged smiling, a  skateboard tucked underneath his arm.

“I see you still have your skateboard.” I said. “I always wanted to try one of those.” I hinted.

He smiled and I knew that he could tell I was giving out hints.

“Want to have a go?” He asked me.

“Well!” I said to myself. “Of course.” I grinned, receiving the skateboard from him and placing it down on the pavement.

“Do you know how to use a skateboard??" He asked his brow furrowed.

“No…” I said my voice fading off.”But I’m still going to try anyway.” I said putting one foot on and within seconds I was wobbling. I hadn’t even placed the second foot on.

“Need some help?” Dan laughed offering out his hand.

“Thanks.” I held onto his hand and put the other foot on to test my balance.

“Okay! Here we go then!” I said confidently but in my head I knew it would definitely one of many other Miranda moments.

I pushed off and before I knew it I was skateboarding down the street.

Who knew I could manage this? I thought to myself.

Oh dear…

I suddenly seemed to be accelerating…

“Aaahhh!” I yelled sounding incredibly awkward. I had no choice. Fall off the skateboard or jump off? Well, there was bushes by the low, wall which was blurring beside me. Yes, I was going to do it. Yes that’s right I was taking the second option.

“Oh dear!” I cringed as I threw myself over the wall and landing in the bushes.

“Michaela! Are you alright??!” Dan asked worriedly, as he rushed over to me. He grabbed my hand to pull me up.

“It’s okay I can manage.” I said attempting to stand up. Of course, I didn’t realize how dizzy the skateboard incident had left me and fell forwards. I hit my head on the wall and felt myself fading out into a dark sleep…
