Natsu was in a somber mood, sitting idle in his office on the 17th floor of his office building. He was the floor supervisor for the demolition team, their task was to clean up the mess that 'heroes' made when they beat the shit out of petty criminals.
The reason of his somberness wasn't answering his text nor phone calls, even going out of his way to get up early in the morning to avoid him. Gray Fullbuster wasn't one to beat around the bush, so the fact he wasn't communicating with Natsu after 6 years of dating and deep conversations about things going on between them, to say it was concerning was a understatement.
After 25 missed calls and 42 unread messages, Natsu finally decided to just give up and talk to Gray when he got home. If the problem was large enough to make even Gray act like a teenage girl that wanted attention desperately, then it was obviously a very large problem.
A soft tapping at his office door brought him back to his work space, the papers on his desk still not done yet. "Who is it?" Natsu's newly hired secretary poked her blonde head through the doorway, shuffling the files in her hands nervously.
"Good morning, sir, I'm just here to remind you about the meeting that the A demolition team requested to have with you, and also some other files that you need to sort out before they become a larger problem." She briskly placed the office files on his desk, even placing a little sticky note on top of them all to remind Natsu of further events in his schedule.
"Thank you, Lucy." The beautiful secretary smiled and blushed, hiding her face behind the screen of blonde hair that fell in front of her face.
"Of course, sir." Natsu grabbed one of his pens, letting out an exhausted sigh, running his free hand through his salmon colored hair.
"Oh, Lucy?" She stopped in her tracks, a slightly panicked look on her face.
"Yes, sir? Is there something you need?"
"Have you been in a relationship? Like, a long term relationship."
Lucy seemed to think about it for a moment before nodding, "Yes, I have sir. I don't mean to sound rude, but, why're you asking?"
"Well," Natsu sighed once more, "I've been in a relationship for 6 years now, we settled way before in the beginning of our relationship that communication was very important, yet he hasn't attempted to even hint at what the problem is between us. And he's not one to beat around the bush, either."
Lucy looked a bit startled by the flood of information, and the pressure to give actually good advice rather than some smartass response she'd usually go with. "Well, sir, I suggest you quickly confront your significant other to confront the problem, but if he continues to avoid keeping conversation with you, then you should end it." Natsu's expression was unreadable, but he hummed in acknowledgement.
"Thank you for your advice, Lucy. You may leave now, sorry for bothering you." She just smiled, briskly leaving the room.
Natsu then settled into his seat, pen in hand, but he wasn't really focusing on the paperwork, he was more focusing on what Lucy had said. Should he really end it if Gray refused to discuss the problem with him? There had been no problems before, why should he end it now just because of one problem?
His brow creased in frustration. He wanted to just sit down and talk with Gray, but at the time he just wanted to end it due to the frustration and stress of Gray going AWOL in their relationship needs. If Natsu was the only one sacrificing his time to fix this relationship, then he should just end things, right?
God, why is he getting so frustrated over something he can settle when he got home. He could discuss it with Gray, wether he enjoyed it or not, and they would get through this without having to end it.
