The funeral
The grass was a shockwave of green, and the leaves upon the trees were a vibrant shade of yellows, oranges, and reds. All happy and peaceful things, but staring at the open casket of a loved one was anything but the word happy for Harlow Noble.
Harlow
The casket was opened for the funeral, the funeral for her own brother. She stared at his pale face, that once bore the warmest smiles of a happy 15 year old twin brother. It wasn't long before she couldn't look any longer and turned to walk away when she heard his voice. Every muscle, every thought, every movement froze as she remembered
"I don't want to watch you run today, it's raining anyways" he said looking over at me as we walked to the track field behind the school. "Fine, but text me when you get home. You know how mom is" I replied back a little disappointed he wasn't tagging along today as he usually did. "You mean you" he said with a laugh, I rolled my eyes and shoved him playfully "Well see you after practice" I said and gave him a hug before running to the bleachers.
She felt the tears sting her eyes as she remembered that last conversation she had with him that day. He never even texted her he got home either and she just assumed he forgot, not worrying a heartbeat before running back onto that stupid track field. Suddenly she felt arms around her pulling her into a tight embrace, and for the first time since Hudson's death did she let everyone see the tears of pain form on to her cheeks. She heard her mother's voice shaking as she said everything was gonna be ok but knowing how life was going so far it was just gonna get a whole lot worse. Then, she saw him standing there in the entrance his face looking uncertain and I pushed my mom away and walked towards him my steps uneasy.
Dad
Ryan Noble walked up the pathway into the garden that led to where his son's funeral would be. He knew he wasn't wanted here but he just wanted to say goodbye to his son before he was buried in the ground. As he entered he saw many relatives, family friends, and neighbors...and he saw his wife hugging his daughter as she cried. Time seemed to stand still as he saw she seen him and she pushed her mother away and started walking...towards me.
"Harlow..Im really sorry I know I shouldn't be here but.." he said his words rushed. She didn't say anything as she reached him and then stopped right before him her gaze seemed angry and wavering with grief.
"Why are you here" she said her tone trying to sound confident as she interrupted him.
"I just wanted to say to goodbye" he spoke evenly, his gaze unwavering as he stared at her.
Harlow stared at him, a lot of emotions flashing through her eyes as she simply nodded. "Follow me" she muttered as she walked further down the path until he passed his wife and Harlow stopped at Hudson's casket and looked away.
Ryan took a painful breath as he stared at his dead son. First my brother now my own son he thought angrily but he pushed it aside and knelt before Hudson's open casket. As he felt a lot of stares on his back he closed his eyes and prayed for the first time in years.
Please Lord send my son to your gracious heavens where his soul can be at peace, where he will be more loved then he was when he was with us. Please, and thank you my lord.

Harlow watched her father, as he stood there looking at his dead son. She walked over to him but stopped halfway when her father began to kneel down, pulling his hands together as he closed his eyes. A gasp escaped her mouth and everyone turned to follow her gaze. To her utter surprise everyone began to fall to there knees too, and I felt hot tears in my eyes as I watched. Many childhood memories flooded thoughts and I turned to face the windows.
There stood a figure watching from the gardens, his head hung low but his gaze caught on hers. Those eyes were cold but there was a gentleness to them, and she didn't stop as her feet guided her out the cathedral doors to him.
