The Foust children were sitting around catching up on their lives one afternoon. They did that as frequently as they could, especially since their work schedules were usually so hectic.

"Hey, you remember your first school dance, Cerise?" Xander laughed making his older sister roll her eyes.

"Yeah. Mom bought me a beautiful dress and Dad nearly had a heart attack and said I couldn't go." She shook her head.

"How did you wind up going?" Willow questioned her sister.

"Mom talked Dad into it somehow." Cerise shrugged.

Amarelle was not prepared for what Cerise brought home. There was going to be a school dance! Cerise looked up at her mom with big blue eyes. Smiling, the purple-headed woman said they'd have to go looking for a dress for her to wear. Cerise threw herself into her mother's arms. Tim and Adam would be coming home in a few days and would be here when the dance was happening.

The next day, Ama took Cerise out dress shopping. They browsed several stores until they found the perfect dress. It was conservative but still very pretty and feminine. Ama told her daughter it looked gorgeous on her and insisted they buy it. Cerise loved it and vigorously shook her head.

Ama helped get Cerise ready for her first school dance while Adam and Tim were cleaning up from dinner. The eldest Foust child was meeting her friends at the school and was very excited about the dance itself. She felt like she was less of a baby now that she was able to go to a dance. Ama walked Cerise downstairs and told her to wait by the stairs while she got her camera. She wanted to document her baby girl making Cerise blush.

"Woah, woah, woah." Adam exclaimed when Ama came back with her camera.

"What?" Ama innocently questioned.

"Where is she going looking like that?" Adam crossed his arms over his muscled chest.

"She's going to a school dance. Doesn't she look so beautiful?" Ama stated, "Smile for me, sweetie."

Cerise smiled as she held her hand behind her back shyly. Adam huffed.

"She's not going anywhere. Especially not to some school dance!" The blond exclaimed making his daughter's eyes widen.

"I'll be one of the chaperones at this dance, Adam. It's no big deal." Ama countered.

"I said no." Adam dug his heels in.

The girl watched as her mother pulled her father into the kitchen where they were whisper-arguing. She could see it got heated before Ama turned on her heels and walked back to the door. She told Cerise to hurry up or they'd be late for the dance. Adam huffed and headed straight upstairs to their bedroom leaving a stunned Tim in the foyer. Ama never got heated like he'd just witnessed. They never fought! He wasn't really thrilled at the idea of Cerise going to a school dance either but he had to admit she did look beautiful.

The dress was conservative even if it did just come to below her knees. He wanted to go check on Adam but the toddlers got his attention. There were four other children to take care of and it looked like he'd be the only one watching them tonight. Amarelle stood with some of the other parents as they watched the kids. Most of the girls sat with their friends chatting, having some punch, and dancing in their own little circles. The boys did the same.

There were no slow songs played all night. Cerise was having such a good time chatting and dancing with her friends, she didn't even notice her mother watching. Every now and then one of the boys would try and dance inappropriately but was quickly told to sit down or dance correctly. The other parents made small talk with Ama as they watched the kids and the time went by. She hadn't forgotten the fight she'd gotten into with Adam.

When they returned home, Cerise thanked Ama for letting her go to the dance and expressed how much fun she'd had. Ama hugged her back before the pair walked upstairs to their bedrooms. They bid one another goodnight before Ama slipped into her bedroom. Cerise quickly took her dress off, admiring herself in the mirror a minute or so before she did, and then slipped into her PJ's. She'd had a wonderful time and was glad her mother convinced her dad to let her go.
