"Y/n, watch Pony while me and Soda are gone," my eldest brother, Darry, told me. "Two-bit May come over. If he does, beer and cake are in the fridge."
"Sure thing Dar! Love ya!" I hugged both of my brothers as they walked out.
Almost immediately they walked back in. "I knew I was forgetting something," said Sodapop as he walked back in for his pants.
"That you did," I chuckled handing him his jeans. I love my brother, but sometimes he's a little much.
"Thanks Y/n, I don't know what I'd do without you." Soda kisses my forehead before running back out the door to Darry.
"Ponyboy!" I yelled. "You asleep!?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay!" I thought I would grab a beer and sit on the couch. I went to the fridge from my room to find none other that Two-bit Matthews already there with a beer in his hand.
"Mornin' beautiful," he said and winked. I felt my face heat up when he called me that. I looked down to hide my face and said good morning back.
The thing about Two-bit is that we've been friends for a very long time. Longer than Steve and Soda! And, over the past few years, I have developed a liking for my Mickey Mouse loving best friend who is currently shoving chocolate cake in his mouth by the hand full.
I shook my head at the sight of the boy in front of me. I moved over to sit next to him on the floor in front of the television set. We watched as Mickey Mouse went through his usual elaborate scheme of a crazy over-strewn that comes from him trying to do one thing. In this case it was have a romantic dinner with Minnie. Goofy kept getting in the way.
I sat amused, not with the show so much as the goofball sitting by my side. I saw the bright smile on his face and the child-like twinkle in his eye. His eyes were a magnificent shade of gray and in every way intriguing just to stare at and take in every detail.
"Want some?" Two-bit asked as held up a hand full of cake towards me. I knew him well enough to know that whether I say yes or no, that cake is coming at my face. I just opened my mouth and he fed the chocolate treat to me. He then proceeded to get frosting on my nose.
"Two-bit you're so childish," I laughed at him.
"Well of course! And that's why you love me." We laughed, but gradually our laughter died down. We were staring into each others eyes. He briefly looked down then quickly looked back up to connect our eyes once more. He moved forward and kissed my nose, getting the icing off in the process.
"There," he said, "you are now icing free."
"You missed some." I was referring to cake smeared on my lips. He lightly chuckled and moved closer. He put his hand on my cheek and kissed me. The kiss got deeper.
Then, we heard someone clear their throat.
"Ponyboy! Hi! Uhhh... when did you get up?" I asked trying to pull attention off of you and Two-bit. Two-bit was just looking at you, but the way he was looking was full of love and compassion. I looked from him back to my younger brother who stood in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Long enough," he retorted with a grim smirk plastered on his face. "I'm gonna make breakfast." And with that he walked into the kitchen.
I looked back to Two-bit and we both started laughing. I scooted closer to him, rested my head on his chest, and we continued our Mickey Mouse Marathon while eating cake and drinking our beers.
