It was Halloween night and my friends and I were trick or treating. It was the four of us. It was dusk out, and barely any light was protruding from the horizon anymore.
I was dressed up as a zombie, Zane was a bus? What a weirdo. Isaiah was a Doctor, and Jeremiah was a skeleton. We were the gang that was going to get the most candy out of everyone else in town. We were determined. Our dedication was pulling off once the sun dissipated, we already needed our second bags that we had brought.
"We should prank that house." An ominous voice spoke from behind us. We turned and apparently we had a Michael Meyers with us the whole time as well, or at least just joined. I wondered which one of my friends it was, I figured my best friend Zeke.
"You're late." I stated.
"I got candy on the way to ya." He showed us a bag fully of candy. I noticed it dripping water from the drizzle earlier, good going, I thought.
We all discussed about pranking this next house, and it was decided that we would.
I rang the doer bell and bolted toward the bushes that all my friends were hidden behind.
"Hello!?" A woman called out.
We all giggled and tried to stay quiet.
"Okay, go! Go!"
Zeke, with his Michael Meyers costume, ran out from the bushes and scared the living daylights out of the woman. He pretended to stab her as we ran from the house laughing our heads off.
We would do this exact prank the rest of that Halloween night; house after house.
After trick or treat was over, we said our goodbyes and headed home for sleep.
That next morning at school during lunch we were all talking about the pranks.
"Zeke, you're brave for running up on those people like that."
"What?" He questioned us.
"Those pranks we did last night while trick or treating."
"Uhhh... I didn't even trick or treat last night. Remember, I stayed at home sick?" He told us with a confused expression written on his face.
We all looked at each other bewildered at this revelation. What was going on?
Next thing I knew, a newspaper article landed on the table next to me. It read:
"23 people found dead on their porches. Stabbed in the stomach and left for dead. Trick or treat bag found with decapitated head inside."
I still 'till this day have no clue who was under that Michael Meyers mask...
