In a city where crime runs free in all types of flesh and blood and felt and fuzz
And yes I'm talking about puppets
People always treat puppets so differently but not for me you know why because my dad is a puppet and my mom was human I am a human puppet hybrid
My name is Ava Brooks i'm a junior detective The youngest on the force I'm 21 years old
When I was A little girl I had a magical life my dad was the director and writer of this hit TV show the happy time gang where the cast members were like my family and I especially love my godfather uncle Larry and my godmother Aunt Jenny.
Life was good until one day my mother was shot and killed and my father was framed the murder of her
It was the reason I became a detective to find out who the killer of my mother is and why I had to lose my magical life.
Today was a normal day I was called in to investigate a crime at a puppet porn shop where there was a hit-and-run and possibly an attempted robbery.
I step out of the Black sedan
And already some of the guys hit on me because rumour has it I'm the hottest girl on the force
" hey Ava! Work it girl!" One of the male cops call out. As I lower my sunglasses at them and put them back on.
Then One of them starts to whistle "Hey who hired the stripper?"
I ignore him and just shrug it off and walk inside and take off my sunglasses
" hello Lieutenant sorry I'm late." I say walking inside and closing the door.
"It's all good Brooks glad to see you made it"
" hey Connie. Hey Phil." I waved to them as well
"Hey dear I'm so happy to see you! It's been a while you got big " Phil replied taking her hand and holding it smiling as he sat on the counter of the shop
"Hey kiddo!" Connie chimes in
"Hey! So what do we got here looks like a robbery gone south..." Ava gasps as she finds Bumblys remains still there
"Uncle bumbly is that you?" She gets worried as she gets on the ground and picks up a piece of fluff
"Oh right...oh god I'm so sorry "ohhh ya Ava...I wanted to be the one to tell you thinking they cleaned him up but I guess not..." Phil sighs getting off the counter to go try and comfort her
"And this wasn't a robbery it was a hit." He tells her
" what makes you say that?" She asks
"because the robber first of all didn't take the money." He says holding up a few Dollar bills
"Aw shit cakes." Connie mutters. Ava's eyes welled up with tears fighting the urge to not cry being she was on the job. She just felt like she was losing everyone
"Oh come on Brooks pull yourself together you can handle this. You're a grown woman. You can hang onto this forever." Connie tells her shaking her by the shoulders
"Edwards cmon she's emotional she was close with him she's allowed to be cmere ya need a hug kid?" Phil offered with his arms around Ava seeing she has just wanted to cry so bad.
"No thanks..Phil. Connie is right. I can handle this I've got a job to do." Ava says wiping away her tears pushing him away and getting up
"It's okay dear..I promise don't let her get to ya" Phil mumbled patting her back and handing her a tissue
" thanks." She says taking his tissue and wiping away her tears
" Lieutenant the press is here." A cop walks in
"Wonderful." He says annoyed
"am I free to go sir?" Phil asks
"Yeah maybe go out the back so they don't see you" The Lieutenant replied
"Hey you hang in there okay? If you need anything I'm always a call away" Phil said to Ava as he gave her a quick hug
"Thanks Phil." Ava says
"The last thing this department needs is for anyone to see you here." Lieutenant says
" yeah I'm still the puppets dirty little puppet secret. Huh." He says as he goes to the back
"Well if the shoe fits." Connie says
"Fuck you."
"Yeah. Fuck u too."
"Fuck u more." He says flipping her off
"You And Phil still at eachother throats?" Ava asks Connie
"Guess you could say that" Connie sighed
