There's a reason they're best friends. A reason no matter what Ryan will always have his back. And it goes way beyond the fear of losing him again. It's the reason it doesn't matter what's happening, it doesn't matter who wants to go to war with Marshall, Ryan will always be the first man out on the line to defend him, with an Instagram video or a twitter post telling anyone that he will take their fucking teeth out if they talk shit about his best friend. You do not want Royce Da 5'9 threatening your life.

Anyone who knows their history knows about the 11 years they were apart. The street wars that broke out because of their beef and the years of absolute silence between only 2 phone calls. One where all Ryan could hear was the sound of all too familiar laughter from the other end and then years later a call that shook Ryan to the core. One that by his own words 'put butterflies in his stomach' when Marshall screamed death threats down the phone at him.

And then still a few more years till Paul was able to arrange a face to face meeting between the two again. Any other beef would've been so much easier to squash. Any other beef. But this was them. And the funny thing was... It was never ever really between them to begin with. Ryan was there before D12, before Marshall found his other half in Proof. That's what it was all about. But even when Ryan and Proof put their shit behind them, Marshall still didn't want to see him. Marshall didn't want to see a single inch of him.

And in all that time Marshall became the biggest selling hip hop artist in history. Ryan watched from a distance as the one person he needed to be around, blew up and took their dreams further than they ever thought possible. He became untouchable and everywhere he went, Ryan couldn't go. So even though he never stopped hoping, he stopped looking.

It's funny though, cause Marshall never stopped looking. He knew every move Ryan was making, except when he didn't even know his own moves... which at some point lasted for a few years. But sobriety brought the need back. He needed to know.

And that's exactly why Paul had them in the same room for once. Yeah, Ryan was using Slaughter House as an excuse to get a business meeting but Marshall agreed to it for more than that. That's why it only took him 2 hours to tell Ryan what he'd been wanting to tell him since the moment he stepped into that meeting and laid eyes on him. 11 years of a broken friendship all mended with the words "Come on tour with me. I don't need you on stage. I just need you there."
