Hawk's p.o.v
When I was young my mother said we were not human. That we were more advanced and special. She also told me to never go into the forest our house borderlines. To be very honest I always asked her why. The whole forest looked endless and the trees look dead, but they were very much alive. Then the birds my mother killed that escaped the forest were morphed like a prehistoric animal mix. She told me when I grew up I was to never mix these worlds and that I would guard the border with my life.
The more I grew the more my mother taught me about the different worlds. This world we live in now was full of despair and was mostly ruled by a giant demon. We lived on the last bit of living land that was sacred and that should be protected till she dies. Then our house that had one locked door, I was always trying to get to it before she caught me. She finally gave up and told me there was a portal in the basement of our home that led to another world. One without all the destruction here and one I should go to, once this world falls apart.
"Hawk, once I am gone. I want you to leave this world. I will teach you all that you need to know about fighting and magic. The most important thing I will teach you, is a spell to use once you go through the portal. It will destroy the portal and nothing will need to be protected anymore. You can live a peaceful life and find a home for yourself." my mother smiled with a sad look in her eyes.
"Why can't we go together? Isn't a family supposed to stick together always? Why can't we go now and leave this place? I don't want to lose you and be by myself!" I cried and begged her that we should go.
Mother told me she was the last guardian to have been cursed to the land. There might be more out there, but we cannot move due to the portal we strive to protect. If they left their bodies would break down for the curse would take them. Her words encouraged me to fight and train hard so i could always protect her. My mother who I loved and never wanted to leave behind. The only person I knew in any world.
Years past and my mother said my studies went well for all she taught me. I was happy to be complemented by my mother. She normally didn't because she thought i would slack off and not train as hard as before. We loved our time together and I hated having to wait for her to come home. After so long I taught myself how to cook and clean while she was away on her patrols. Mother was very happy to see dinner made and the home as clean as it could get, but soon that would change and I was not prepared.
The first day of spring came around and I made dinner before my mother would arrive. Little did I know she was to never return. That she was finally taken by the monsters she fought to protect our slight time of peace. The sky was dark in the direction my mother went, I watched out the window a bit longer till I saw someone. The closer the person got the more I could tell he was not an ally.
The man wore fancy clothes and a crown made from bones. His smile sent chills down my spine when we made eye contact. This was the Demon King... My body moved on its own to grab our weapons and run down to the basement. I recited the enchant and yelled my destination was Earth. The portal glowed and I immediately jumped threw. I landed dead in a forest full of giant trees covered in green. I stood in awe for a moment then realized I didn't destroy the portal.
I hope I still remember this forsaken spell my mother taught me. I recited the enchant for the portal but this power, what it drained from me was immense. My body gave then i was on my knees for the last verse. I was happy that I could complete the destruction spell, but now my body is weak. I laid on the forest floor for a good while until I felt fine.
"Hey your Majesty! There is someone on the ground!"
I slowly tilted my head to the right to see a young woman. My vision seems to be fading as the spell took too much out of me. Her energy seems to be pure so I can rest now.. I fell asleep where I laid and stayed asleep for many days. I could feel the energy of others constantly and when it was just one i knew it was time to try to rest my body fully. Though this energy at night all by itself was off. It felt worried for something or someone.
The energy I lost finally recovered. I awoke to just the one energy and or person in the room. The outside was dark and a candle was lit on a flat surface. The candle was next to a man whose head was down on the surface as well. I got out of what seemed to be a bed and walked over to him.
He looked peaceful asleep, his short black hair covered his face a bit with the way he slept on this surface. I might as well not disturb him, he looks pretty worn out. The wall opening was covered by something clear but you can get out of it right? I pushed the clear wall to see it opened. Ah, this is impressive. I wonder how you make these! I got distracted and I fell out of the opening trying to decide what it could be made from. I used my wings to make a swift landing so i wouldn't hurt myself. There was another clear opening?! But someone was on the other side!
The woman screamed than ran off. What? Is that woman ok? The place started to light up and threatening energy was coming my way. I sat and waited to be greeted by men wearing silver metal with weird looking weapons. This is interesting, what is their attire made out of too. This place is interesting! As the men swung their weapons I dodged then started to take pieces of the clothes and some weapons.
"He is too fast, we can't win. How have you men lost your armor?!"
This is called armor? Hmm, this doesn't seem to sturdy. I placed my hand on the torso piece, the energy I focused in my hand melted the center of the piece. Some of the threatening energy was replaced with fear and confusion. This really isn't sturdy after all I guess. I heard a man yell from afar. His energy seemed similar to the one that was worried all those nights. Who is this and why is their energy so different from the others.
"The young man lying in my bed has gone missing! Why are you making such a ruckus-"
We made eye contact, the black hair was a dead give away. This was the man sleeping on that surface! I used my wings to push me through the crowd of people to be in front of the man. He was taller than me and looked like more of a man with his body structure. Those piercing grey eyes were hard to stare at. They looked lost.
"Sir he is dangerous! Please back away from him immediately! Your safety is important to us!" a soldier yelled.
"I don't know if you could tell, but this was the young man that was laying in my bed. This long red colored hair proves that. Sheath your swords and lower your bows, I don't know if he is friend or foe yet." the man spoke in confidence yet he was nervous.
"Young lord! The man we have kept watch on!" A lady ran out from around a corner out of breath looked at me than back to the tall man. "Oh, it seems you have already found him. One of the lower staved maids ran madly through the corridors saying something of a demon. I knew it had to be him."
I looked at her shocked. In this world I am considered a demon? How can that be? I worked so hard to defeat what I thought was a demon... Yet here I stand, in a new world. They might have different views of everything I once knew. A hand gently touched my head. I looked up to see a soft smile on the mans face. Does he not see me as such? Do I look good to someone at least?
"My name is Hawk. I come from a world called Norgan. It is now plagued by one of the many demon kings. I escaped here after the loss of my mother." I mumbled.
"You say demon kings as there is more than one. Could you say why you believe this?" the man who stood above me now sat in the grass.
"I read numerous books, one contained the dark-bright. The world of dark contained demons and dark creatures of another dimension to the bright world. The bright world was a tranquil place full of energy and life. Every world has the dark-bright but neither world should know of the other's existence for it shall lead to both of their destruction. This information held true to the very end when I had to leave Norgan."
"So this means you are no foe?" the man asked this question with no hesitation.
"I am not a foe to the world of bright. I am what you call a Guardian. This is the next place I will try to protect with my life."
