Something that doesn't exist fell in love!?

In such chaos there must always be resolution, of what kind it does not matter. Many a time human kind as sold its soul to obtain protect from a great evil in order to be freed from the lesser evil of the two. Funny thing about evil, no matter form or size, it always comes to get you in the end.

Over the years a girl had been born in the village, considered to be wise from her very birth and grown into one of the most beautiful woman known, to the town at least. Her beauty was not impressive or even worth noticing to watchful eyes that scanned the town's nights and no ghostly eyes were they. When such a beautiful girl went untouched by the ghosts, her wisdom became very obvious to the town folks, for surely such a beauty would be one of the first to be loved by a ghost. She was brought before the town council and asked, more like demanded, to keep the town safe from ghosts. She smiled in reply, saying that if they would make her town priestess and built her a temple to perform her rites and rituals in, then that would give her enough power to stop the ghosts not only at her doorstep but at the skirts of the towns. The townsfolk readily agreed though, showing by their lack of a temple, they had never had a priestess before.

The temple the villagers built was done in a matter of days; such was their fear of the ghosts that they even dared to build at night, not caring of the creatures. Unknown to the villagers as the priestess performed her duties, many creatures had entered the town but as the priestess promised the ghosts appeared to leave the townsfolk. So the town folks slept unaware of the dealings that still went on at night, and their new unfound companions.
