An Unfortunate Pokémon tale

Unexpected Changes (Extra)

Every stride John makes he can feel Cari' getting slightly weaker, he tries to understand why she could have gotten sick so suddenly when she was perfectly fine the day before.  Cari briefly opens her eyes and weakly asks, "Do you love me?"  John turns his head while running through the forest at an incredible pace saying to her, "Cari... You know I  do, but please save your strength... I'm taking you somewhere to get better."  she slowly falls asleep on his back once again.  As she dozes off, her aura explodes, this causes her body temp to sky rocket.  The heat is so immense that it begins to burn Johns shirt and sear his entire back, as painful as it is John knows he can't slow down as it might cost Cari her life.  Exiting the forest for the first time in over 2 years, he sees trainers everywhere near the road area battling one another.  Three strangers see him holding Cari who's hurt and rushes over in attempts to lend aid.  One of them asks, "Hey is everything alright, anything we can do to help?"  One of the guys is about to lay a hand on Cari, this causes John to spin around yelling, "Back the fuck off!  Don't touch her!"  The guy backs off cautiously saying, "Woah buddy, I don't want trouble... I'm just trying to help...  I can have one of my Pokémon cast a healing spell."  John feels himself turn rabid for a second almost as if he lost control of his actions if not but just for a moment.  Feeling light headed due to the large immense of pain he's enduring, he quickly apologizes and begins running again rather quickly towards Yersa.  Noticing and feeling the skin on his back begin to peel away, he painfully asks himself, "What's going on?  My aura isn't shielding me, it's lashing out... why is this happening, it's never acted like this before... Cari, what's happening?".  Nearing Yersas front gates now, John spots his destination directly ahead, its Rex's fathers Day care center for Pokémon.   He feels Rex could help him since he doesn't want to go into a Pokémon center due to the last incident that happened in serene.  Running inside with Cari on his back a familiar face is seen inside just over the counter looking at a tablet in front of him, Rex looks up and sees John with Cari in bad shape on his back.  He immediately runs up to John asking, "Sir, What seems to be the problem?" John's panting rather loudly, he manages to let out, "Please help her... I'll be fine, I just need to catch my breath."  Rex attempts to lift her off of Johns back, but his hands get burnt instantly by her intense body heat.  Rex shakes his head worriedly saying, "This doesn't look good... Your Lucario's showing signs of pregnancy.  From the looks of her, it looks like she's having a hard time sustaining the young life inside of her."  Rex runs and gets burn resistant gloves and lifts her off of Johns back, upon lifting her off, Johns skin peels off along with Cari.  Rex is about to tell John something, yet he waves and tells Rex once again, "I'll be fine, just help her." Rex immediately takes her into the back.   The pain doesn't seem to bother him as much, he seems to stay shocked at what Rex just said.  After catching his breath John heads into the back to see Cari lying down on a flat cushioned metal table.  Rex stands their shocked as Cari's body temp is melting the fabric and causing the metal to get extremely hot, it's as if he was turning on a stove.  In a panic Rex quickly says out to John, "Hey, whatever this is... its bad... I'm gonna need you to hold her down tight."  John doesn't question Rex because he's met him once before in another reality.  John stands next to the table and places both of his hands over hers, just touching her causes him to grunt in pain as her skin sears his hands.  Rex grabs a big shot filled with a strange liquid and a skinny flexible tube from the cabinet then runs to them.  He quickly wraps the tube around her arm tightly and pushes the needle into her arm, Cari shakes Violently from the pain but Rex yells louder this time at John, "Hold her tighter damn it!  The needles gonna break off in her arm!"  After hearing this John uses his full force to keep Cari from moving, after all of the liquid in the syringe is drained, Rex quickly removes the needle and has John slowly let go.  Cari's breathing seems to be a lot steadier now and her body temp slowly subsides, John who's now relieved, sits down on a chair being sure his back and hands aren't touching anything.  After checking her vitals, Rex proceeds to John to look at his severe burn wounds.  As he looks closely for a minute at his wounds, they start to heal themselves rather quickly.  He quickly staggers backwards knocking over a metal stool saying with a shocked tone of voice, "Holy hell, that's a first for me...  That's fucking insane!"  After hearing himself curse he quickly apologizes for his crude language.  John lightly laughs in a pained state saying back to him, "Don't worry about it, Trust me... I'd have been shocked myself if I saw this happen."  John stands up shaking off the pain of the burns while saying in a serious manner, "Earlier, when you said she was pregnant.  How exactly do you know that?"  Rex looks sternly at him responding, "My father taught me how to see the signs this early on, i learnt a great deal from him.  As soon as I saw your Pokémon  I saw her in a much more critical condition than the others... I've never seen a Pokémon exert that much energy before to bear an offspring, she's displaying ALL symptoms."  John with worry in his voice, quickly asks another question, "How exactly does a Pokémon have a child?  Can you stop whatever is happening?"  Rex clears his throat before continuing, "I don't mean to insult your intelligence in any way when I say this, but I'll explain it as simple as I can.  Many people believe Pokémon get impregnated through the same means as humans would... this is not the case.  Genders between Pokémon are just like us, they have males and females.  When their energy and love for one another collide, this generally results in the impregnation in the female.  Now the way they have them is even more fascinating..." he stops for a moment as if admiring his own knowledge on the subject.  John can't help but ask him, "How exactly would they have one?"  Rex walks over to Cari and performs a few tests while continuing speaking with John saying, "Well, to answer your other question, I don't know if I can help her, I've never seen this before.  Also you can determine when their about to have one, you just need to pay attention to the signs.  Well, unlike your Lucario here, they wouldn't be as hard to notice early on... the fact yours is acting like this is beyond strange.  I'm not even sure if I should treat her the same way as a normal Pokémon."  John worriedly twiddles his thumbs between his lap saying, "Is it possible for a human to get a Pokémon pregnant through the same means you just explained to me...?"  Rex laughs lightly as if it was a joke, he then says, "No way, in order for that to happen the human in general, would have to wield almost an identical energy as the Pokémon.  Plus to add to that  insane notion, the birth would have... might have, serious complications, although i would never really be able to-".  His talking and movements stops suddenly.  Rex stares at Johns wounds healing themselves and the female Lucario's symptoms.  With a scared/shocked tone he can only mutter, "No, this isn't possible...?" John slowly stands up saying to him, "Everything I'm about to tell you Rex will sound incredibly crazy, but please just hear me out and try to keep an open mind."  Checking to be sure Cari is resting normally one more time, he then proceeds to take seat next to John and then nervously awaits for him to speak.  After they both talk with one another for awhile, Rex begins to realize that everything he's saying sounds completely insane.  Yet somehow he feels everything he's telling him is all true in some weird way.  Rex puts everything on hold by closing the shop early, he doesn't want people coming in and out for day care services.  He stands up now and says, "Okay, lets say this is all true for a second... What exactly is it that you expect of me?  I'm not even sure how to handle a situation like this..." Rex then puts one hand over his forehead and starts massaging it as he tries to think of something.  John can only say, "Please Rex, the reason why I told you all of this, is because I was confident you could help her..." Rex ponders for a moment before saying, "This could be a great learning opportunity, I'll look into this but I'm not making any promises that I'll be able to help her properly."  John just nods and thanks him for what he's doing.  Rex says to John, "Feel free to fall asleep on the couch, I'll run some more tests and see what I can do..."  John feels himself getting rather sleepy after all of the constant aura being expended to get here in a rush and to heal himself with.  Trusting Rex can help he politely declines Rex's offer and pulls up a metal chair to sit next to her.  As he holds one of her paws in between his hands, he feels her  body temp and aura slowly starting to calm down.  Rex moves over to the table with some supplies saying, "It'd be best if you weren't here, but I'll understand if you wanna stay."  Cari wakes up as she senses John next to her, he gently places his hand over her to prevent her from getting up, he then tells her, "Cari, please rest, I don't want you to hurt yourself."  She feels reassured by Johns presence and weakly falls back asleep.  Rex quietly says to John, "I'm nervous as to see what actions and or precautions i should take.  Before I start on anything, I have to do some research on this.  I'm not a fan of losing Pokémon, I want to be sure I know what I'm doing...  I'll be back at day break, go ahead and lock up behind me when I leave."  As Rex opens the door to the daycare center, a weird looking trainer is waiting outside with his Zoroark in his arms saying with tears in his eyes.  "Rex please, no Pokémon center will treat him... they say it's only a matter of time.  He's all i have, please do something..." the trainer falls to his knees as if begging him to take a look at it.  Rex tells the stranger, "This is a daycare center, I can't do anything for you, I'm sorry." The trainer begins crying as he says, "Please... I heard you were the one to go to when all else has failed... I'll do anything, please help Zoroark."  Rex feels for the trainer and quickly notions him inside so he can take a look.
