Yelling.
It was all I ever heard in my hell of a house hold, as if it was the sound track of my life. Except it was something you would not want to listen to and change to a different song.
I grab my phone and put on my earphones, blasting New Year's Day as the yelling became more audible. The sound of Ash Costello's voice had always calmed me down at situations like this, which happened alot ever since my step dad David moved in and supposively became apart of our broken family.
My name is Violet Montgomery. I'm 20 years old, and still living with my mom. I had the oppertunity to move out, But since she has to go through David's shit I decided to stay and help defend/take care of her and my brother.
I am in my second year of community college and currently working as a babysitter. And by that, I mean taking care of my 14 (yes 14.) year old brother Destrey and getting paid minimum wage. You may think that it's the easiest job in the world, but when you have a little boy running around the house after drinking his whole hidden stash of Monster, you wish you were paid more than just $10.
My heart had skipped a beat as the song ended and heard a loud crash. I took my earphones off and ran straight out of my room, seeing my mom bleeding on the floor. I ran over to her limp body as tears formed on the brim of my eyes.
"Mom are you okay?!" I asked, taking her warm cut up hands in mine. "Violet, hun. You need to run away from here. I can't let you get hurt. I had already sent Destrey away and you must go along with him now."
"No mom I can't leave you here and die!" I felt both anger and fear as I heard heavy footsteps walk towards me. I looked up at the tall, large man standing infront of my mom and I.
"Leave us alone, David. Or else," I said, glaring up at him. His hands and clothes were covered in blood which caused me to feel sick inside. Blood was one of my strangest and worst fears, but I tried not to let it bother me.
"Or else what? Face it Violet, you can't do shit. You're just a fragile, little weak girl," he spat, his lips forming into an evil smirk.
At this point, anger was rising more than fear was. I stood up on my feet and attatched my hand to his cheek, causing him to stumble back on the counter with his eyes darker than ever. I ran quickly up to my room and locked the door before packing my stuff in my school backpack.
"Violet, open the fucking door!" David screamed, banging on the door with his strong fists.
"No!" I yelled back, grabbing my phone and putting on my backpack. "Rot in hell, David!"
Anxiety then flowed through my body as I heard my door crack. I opened up my window and quickly jumped out, landing on my feet then running away as far as I could.
Where to now?
