It was the most unusual thing Elliott Towers had ever seen.

There in the corner of the coffee shop was a young woman drinking her
extra strong black coffee using a straw.

A straw.

He had heard of odd habits, and had seen some rather odd things,
since after all, this was New York City. However, this by far was the
oddest thing he had ever seen with his eyes.

As he scrubbed a nearby by table wish a dish rag he kept his eyes on
the young woman, she had shoulder length brown hair and was wearing a
mustard coloured raincoat.

she looked small as she hunched her shoulders typing on her laptop
furiously taking sips of coffee every now and then out of the red
straw the shop provided.

Elliott began to feel curious about her, this was the first time he
had ever seen her here, and that's saying a lot since he knew every
customer that had ever walked into the coffee shop.

I wonder what her name is?

Immediately an idea popped into his head and he rushed towards
selection of sweets the coffee shop had and picked out one of the
famous pink icing rainbow sprinkled donuts the shop was known for.

Placing it on a plate he began to make his way towards the young woman's table.

"Are you just as bitter as the coffee you drink?"

He placed the donut on the table and gave her a wide toothy grin.

The young woman looked up in annoyance her honey coloured eyes meeting
Elliott's grey ones.

He almost felt his heart skip a beat as she glared up at him.

She was quiet beautiful up close.

Her large eyes were like two pots of honey, she had fair skin and a
square shaped face, his eyes travelled from her button shaped nose to
the light freckles on her cheeks until they meet her plump shaped
lips.

"Um... Can I help you?" The girl asked clearly annoyed as she snapped
at Elliott, catching him off guard.

He looked up and met her eyes feeling his cheeks become slightly heated.

"Um no, I just wanted to say hello and, here." he said pushing the
plate with the donut towards her, giving her another toothy smile.

She wrinkled her nose and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"I didn't order a donut"

Confusion evidence in her voice, as she looked up at him. Elliott
smiled flashing his dimples "Hey it's on the house!" he exclaimed
expecting to see her smile and say thank you but instead...

"I hate donuts"

she said wrinkling her nose as she pushed the plate towards him and
went back to typing on her laptop as if what she had said was
perfectly normal.

Elliott's jaw went slack as he stared at the alien before him, he
opened and closed his mouth for a few seconds trying to find his
voice.

'Hate donuts!'

He thought to himself.

'What kind of person hates donuts?'

Apparently she did.

"Listen I haven't got all day to waste precious moments of my life so
you can stand there gapping like a fish at me, now if you would move
aside so I could leave"

Surprised, he looked before him as the young woman had gotten up ready
to leave with her laptop now in a bag.

She was very short compared to him, as he looked down at her small
petite frame.

"You're quiet the smurf aren't you?" He said not even realizing that
he had opened his mouth.

His jaw had gone slack for the second time in the matter of seconds as
he looked down, at the now furious little minion.

He chuckled at that.

'little minion'

"What are you laughing at you overgrown baboon!" she huffed at him
throwing daggers with her eyes.

'Overgrown baboon?'

Is that what she thought of him?

'Ouch!'

He knew he was tall at 6'2" but he didn't think he was ever an
overgrown baboon, he frowned at the insult looking down at her as she
only wrinkled her nose like she was a small bunny.

"What is it now?" she asked impatiently tapping her boot clad foot on
the floor of the coffee shop. "You hurt my feelings" Elliott replied
placing a hand on his heart.

She only snorted "Cry me a river" and with that final statement she
pushed her way past Elliott and out the coffee shop door leaving a
startled Elliott and an untouched donut behind.
