On stormy seas

As I sat hunched over in the pale blue train, I could hear the deafening roar of the oceans fury beating against the side of the carriage, wild and feral like an untamed beast; each and every strike of the icy White Sea foam sent shudders of fear coursing through the heart of the train, threatening to derail it from its course of action. I start to frantically search for something to grip onto.

Unfortunately, the dark blue mundane fabric armrests are the only thing in reach. The sight of the armrest, shredded and scratched at, gave me a feeling that I was not the first, and certainly not the last, to latch onto the moulding material as if it were my lifeline, creating a sense of security, almost as if it was protecting me against the raging weather of the outside world.

Howling winds smash against the cracked, condensates window, creating a waft of freezing air that quickly and completely eradicated the blazing heat that once surrounded the atmosphere. Cold sweat began to form and drip down the crevices of my face.

Straightening from my ball of protection, realisation struck me like a blinding bolt of lightening to a tree, the waves have stopped their merciless attack, making me question if the almost apocalyptic weather has ceased for good or whether it would return once again, much more powerful than before ready to shake myself and the other passengers to the core, causing an ice cold feeling to crawl from my stomach as if it was shards of jagged ice trying to break through my skin from the inside out. A part of me wanted to relish in the fact that the 3 hour torrent has finally let up, however, I knew better than to celebrate so early on, as the weather, much like the ocean itself, was unpredictable and could take to a dangerous path in an instant, and if given the chance it would instantly and completely sever any sense of comfort I may still hold within these four metal walls.

It seemed my thoughts were on the right path as not even five minutes later, I heard the unmistakable sound of rain thundering against the roof and windows of the compartment. Unfortunately, my luck seemed to run out at that point as I picked up on the screeching sound of metal scratching against metal, notifying me that the train has reached its given destination, damning the passengers to the cruel fate of the world. As I go to step of the ledge, I pull up my hood and and release my umbrella from its confinement's, allowing me to walk through the rain with little difficulty.

However through the break in the clouds I could see the sun shining, illuminating wherever the rays touched, spreading some sort of warmth through the people that managed to walk through the beams, and it reminded me that even if everything feels bad in the world, there will always be a light shining through the darkness, letting you know that good times are never far away.
